    Hi,

    Hoping someone can help.

I got an new work laptop and I can also keep the old one as a personal laptop.

Work IT have wipes it clean, and apparently I have to reboot it and install windows again.

I copied windows 10 from my home pc to a usb using rufus.

    when I go to reboot the laptop, I do the following;

1 holding f12 to get to boot device
2 at legacy boot option. I picked USB storage device
3 it then ask me to pick keyboard
4 it then goes to a c prompt.....

    what do I do now?

    thanks

    j

i think you have to partition the drive in the laptop,
so follow the instructions as in above link.
dos commands must be typed in exactly as in the link above,

it might be simpler to just make one large partition ,
say i have one drive in my laptop 300gig ,
i,ll usually partition it drive c ,first partition active ,
    drive C;/ is 295gig ,
eg its better to leave a few gig empty .
as the os may want to have a few gig for a swap file etc

I don't know what the other guy suggested you do, but ignore it.

You can't just copy windows by copying a current install.

First off - what had the machine on before it? If Win10, you should be OK.

Use this to create a Win10 Install USB and install the laptop and no messing with partitions or whatever the hell was in that post.
