But it seems he's been hypnotised to forget about the 5-1 thrashing by Celtic. Its the only logical explanation for the press conference after the thumping by Hearts!

i think he was trying to (badly) make the point that the size of the gap is due to Celtic being on the best streak Scottish football has seen. And that if Celtic weren't in outrageous form then the gap would be a more acceptable level.

It's would still be a nonsense point even if it was articulated properly. He did little/nothing to cool expectations. Now when it's undeniable that there's miles between the clubs he's talking up Celtic/Rodgers to excuse himself.

He did, the direct quote is lifted from the link I included.

Ifs and buts count for nothing. I'm assuming that most of us are fairly passionate about the clubs we support and we can all come out with "but if this had happened..." or "if only we didn't get that bad decision by the ref...". But (there you go; another but!) we're hotheaded, biased football fans. You expect a manager of a top side to be a bit more level headed. I actually like Warburton. He seems a likeable enough bloke, and seemed to get a raw deal at Brentford. But making that sort of statement does him no favours, really.

Ya, it was an incredible thing to say.

Reading through the other questions in the linked interview it seems Warburtons answer is basically you can't blame him for Celtic being so good.

    And he'd be right :)

I see Republic of Ireland former youth international, Rob Kiernan, is receiving dogs abuse from fans and is being turned into the fall guy.

Stewards had to stop him being attacked by fans at the game at the weekend.

He shouldn't be getting abuse but let's not pretend it's because he got capped for Ireland at youth level. He is absolute crap at defending and Warburton didn't do him any favours

So have countless other players, including Andy Halliday, a boyhood fan of the club. Kiernan, the same former RoI youth international, was on the receiving end of praise for some of his performances earlier in the season from our support. Not good enough to play for any top six team in the SPL, in my opinion.

He's absolute muck. If he was playing for my team and playing as badly, I'd be roasting him too.

That's true. He's no Senderos or Hill anyway.

Sky sports are reporting that Warburton has resigned...
It doesn't mention the magic hat though.... does he get to keep that? Or does he have to leave it behind?

Timing is strange. I expected this to happen at the end of the season.
RANGERS has accepted the resignations of manager Mark Warburton, assistant manager David Weir and the Club’s head of recruitment Frank McParland.

At a meeting with the management team’s representative earlier this week the Club were advised that Mr Warburton, Mr Weir and Mr McParland wished to resign their positions and leave the Club on condition that

Rangers agreed to waive its rights to substantial compensation. Rangers’ agreement to waive compensation would assist the management team to join another club. This compensation amount was agreed when

Rangers significantly improved Mr Warburton and Mr Weir’s financial arrangements before the start of this season.

The Board urgently convened to consider the offer made on behalf of the management team and its ramifications and agreed to accept it and release the trio from the burden of compensation, despite the potential financial cost to the Club. It is important that Rangers has a football management team that wants to be at the Club and that the Board believes can take the Club forward to meet our stated ambition to return to being the number one Club in Scotland. We are clearly short of where we expected to be at this time.

The representative acting for the management team subsequently attempted to alter the terms of what had been agreed in favour of the management team. A further Board meeting was held this afternoon to discuss this and it was decided not to agree to this additional request but to hold with the original agreement.

Mr Warburton, Mr Weir, and Mr McParland have therefore been notified in writing that their notices of termination have been accepted.

The Board is very appreciative of the good work previously done by the management team but believes it had no alternative. Our Club must come first and absolute commitment is essential.

On Sunday Under-20s coach Graeme Murty will take interim charge of the team. We know our support will give him and our team their full backing. We thank our support for their loyalty and desire to be the best.

Resigned for buying Senderos and Hill and sacking a player that walked straight back to a Premier League Club! :pac:

Timing is very strange and what McLaughlin says sounds about right

Yeah, Sky saying he has but he knows nothing about this. Club have announced it though. Another mess in the making. It is possible that the club site was hacked?

According to BBC the statement has been taken down, fairly amateur if Warburton hasn't resigned. Crazy stuff

Must of been the Russians or Rangers fans because Celtic fans want him to stay!

I'm sure this incident will be like water off a ducks back for him :pac:
