  • Scotland clinical. Ireland scrappy.

What a bizarro first half and final ten minutes.

Ach well, I suppose I'll have to get my ABE jersey out.

What is with almost every player looking for contact instead of space !!

Mistake to take O'Brien off, should have been Heaslip to go he's too much of a luxury player when the sh*t hits the fan, we needed to get Stanmer on the ball more with aggressive ground making carries.

Need a serious improvement. We looked one dimensional and seemed to lack any ideas on how to break down a mediocre Scotland. God knows what England will do if we can't get a hold of ourselves.

And anyone who thinks Scotland will do anything in this championship needs a reality check. We were ****e and they just got over the line.

Nah, we're going to hear how great Scotland are now. Forgetting the fact they let a 21-5 lead slip. They are awful. Italy will still be targeting them as their best chance of a win.

They aren't great, but I was impressed at how they responded when down 21-22, lesser teams wouldn't have been able to get the momentum back. Only a begrudger would deny them that.

Today yet again shows Schmidts biggest weakness, loyalty.
kearney and bowe are finished at this level but Schmidt does not see it.

the irish squad needs complete overhaul, today proves heaslip, obrien, toner, earls and best have nothing to offer.
they had their great days but they are finished at international level.

But sadly schmidt wont drop the players I named above because Time waits for no man unless Schmidt picks the team.

    Heaslip.

2016 World Player of the Year nominee.

    Luxury player.

We're going to need to pick up a try bonus point against Italy now.

Ah, the 6 nations, when the rugby forums get invaded by the eamon dunphy types... It's a special time of year

That is not fair. What is fair is that the strategy of bulldozing your way to a win is a muck strategy. We need to define who we are, our style of play.

TBF the Rugby League playbook is a default favourite of ours (has been for a while) and usually ineffective.

The back line pretty much tried the same few moves all match and the lack of creativity was shocking.

There is some serious d1ckhead posts on this thread. We made mistakes. It happens. Scotland played very well. We broke our balls to win and it didn't work out. Some of the vitriol posted here is disgraceful. All posted by wasters sitting on their arses. Heads up lads. 4 games to go. We were up against 16 men today away from home.

Keep your head in the sand so.

They'll be coming in already crowned and will get a bonus point win to seal the grand slam

It's possible to be a genuine barstooler AND poster at the same time.

    Technology is amazing.

This loss is down to nothing but mentality. You need a bit of arrogance to dine at top table with the All Blacks. This Irish side talked Scotland up like they were world beaters all week. You won't find Eddie Jones and the English doing that. They'll say all week they're going to smash the Scots and they'll do just that. That going out on a limb that they are doing leaves no room for them being sound asleep like we were in the first half. They thrive in the pressure they put on themselves but we take the safer option of predicting dog fights that we inevitably get dragged in to.

    Horrible Rugby.

The 2019 World Cup is a write off. I do not see how we have even remotely addressed the issues of 2015

I don't want to single out one number but there's no justification for selecting Tommy Bowe anymore. At his age unless you're considerably better than a younger player you need to be phased out.

Think Irl were the better team, but Scots played smarter. Cotter won his battle easily. But we have to congratulate the Scots.

We showed in the 2nd half what a good side we can be. Lineout is a serious worry now though. POC, can you make a comeback?

Overall I felt rugby was the big winner today, seriously entertaining game, just hugely disappointing that our GS hopes are gone so early.

It was a great game of Rugby, I agree.

Was hoping Joe's half time talk would do more - his strength is identifying weaknesses & holes in the opposing team. Looked like he got something at the start of the 2nd half but just wasn't enough.

We got exactly what we deserved. Our first half was full of errors
At crucial times and in crucial places we made dumb mistakes, whilst the scots worked hard as a unitdefensively and took every chance we gave them

I'm disappointed but we didn't do enough to win and given the expectation that hurts

No regular posters have pointed out anomlies like Bowe selection. This is a disaster. A poor 6 nations and 2019 might be under Erasmus

    Worst. Post. Ever.

Not really, I'm wondering what more some of these players have to offer.

Revising recent history is fine, but look at the scoreboard.

Second half was a massive improvement. There was a change in defensive alignment and we shut Scotland down and allowed them only 6 points in the half.

I just can't get over how bad we were in the opening half. The management and the players will be tearing the asses off each other.
