One of the last cows due in April calver tonight here. She had held to her first serve.
Can't locate the AI book from last year.

Where do I go to in Icbf to find out what she was served with ?

How long dry.? Bastard of a thing when they end up with a short dry period.

    It was Buford.

He got them in his co-op, but I'm not sure which co-op.

I'm looking for 36 of them myself.

Strathroy would surely position themselves where they would not be situated in the middle of any other processors catchment area. It would be semi neutral and readily accessible eg, off a motorway.

anywhere in the heart of glanbia country sounds good to me , maybe next door to belview lol

Portlaoise would be the spot. Motorway to limerick, cork, Dublin and Kilkenny/Waterford. And they alread have a large distribution center in Dublin

That will be expanded in the next 18 months to cover a larger area of the midlands.

Craic, they won't isolate themselves in a corner.
They'll work liquid and manufacturing from one site.

Yeah, I got them in the local Dairymaster shop for about a fiver. They should be in most Co-op stores I reckon.

I would be more concerned there would be something that would be brought up to stop suppliers leaving even though the msa will be up. Interesting times ahead

Well calving 2017 is finally underway here 5 calves overnight , good to get back in to routine after a very long dry period this year .

We are go here also. Nice brown and white heifer off one of the jex I bought in. Needed a small help with the jack annoyingly. Pushing out calving that week not looking like the smartest idea now that the Sr is lower, will be a struggle to hit 30%grazed by the end of Feb.

Is it dry enough to put youngstock out on paddocks?

Things kicking off here too after two false starts. Two heifers in calving boxes and another just making a start.

3 last night, one of which appears to be an immaculate conception....

Not really going hard yet. Had our 1st this am and a heifer.

30% of herd in on straw and close to calving so we'll be busy by Sunday I'd say

Why so much Stan? New herd in your own name or are the older ones not lasting or being sold on for a good price and keeping younger stock?

Expansion expansion gone from 80 cows 6 yrs ago to 180 this yr

Fair dues good report and I'm only using it to make a point about these reports, not to bore holes in yours. I've been on your farm so know it's fact.

Just by way of yesterday's discussion regarding the relevance of this report. To the reader it reads fantastic but

are the cows being fed 1.5 to 2 tonne meal

    How much grass

    How many days grass

Is this a high input winter herd.

Stan knows the answers but I'm wondering if anyone else could ascertain if this is a profitable herd. It's a top performing herd, no doubt.

Cows fed 1.68 ton last yr with a feed cost of 5.4 cpl based on sold milk only

    285 days at grass

4ton dm grass fed per cow roughly.

Wouldn't consider it high input winter herd as all cows just fed to their dm intake requirements- spring calvers get same feeding regime as winter millers as feed is fed thru feed to yield in parlour

Output including stock sales over 40 cpl in 2016

Drawing of 120k on 140 cows last yr

Draw your own conclusions from the above
