    Hi Folks,

I have a question regarding a recent job I was in since November.

I started a job back in November 2016 and was getting on fine. Just a laboring type of job where I was pulling cables and patching etc...paid by the week.
Only to be called into the office there last week to be told that due to contracts and other jobs not coming through that they couldn't keep me on.
So that was that, not much I could do.

I read today on indeed.ie that they are recruiting more people now and so it seems to me that for whatever reason, getting rid of me was nothing to do with lack of work in the company, if they are trying to take on more people now.....

Have I got any grounds for legal proceedings or can they do what they bloody like during the initial first 6 months or whatever??

    Cheers
    R

I'm pretty sure they can get rid of you for any reason or none that early in the job. It mustn't have been working out. I don't think you have any comeback so you'll have to just suck it up I'm afraid.

You are unlikely to have any rights in this situation unless you are a member of a minority, traveller or disabled and can show you were dismissed for this reason then you would have a case against them. Can you apply for a job with the same company at a different site by any chance.
