    annoy me for these reasons:

1)they are ment to be here to learn english and yet never speak a word of it

2)there is soooo many of them and they block up every shop, path, pub, dart station, bus stop, street corner.

    3)they are pushy and over-baring

4)they are so very very LOUD

however there are quite a few fine spanish girls

i now await the hate mail about me being a big racist.

Funny I would have thought stating that an entire group of people still couldn't speak a word of English after spending a summer learning it was an even more idiotic comment?

No, in your case I would suggest remaining a whining little doormat who gets pushed around by people who don't even notice his presence.

    Sure you do.

Lol, you come in here bitching about people you clearly don't know jack sh1t about then get all touchy when someone points out how stupid you are being! Ring FM104 if that's the level you're working on. They have a whole show devoted to people of your mentality.

I work in a statoil across the road from where they are staying... its not nice when about 50 of the ignorant wánkers pile up to your till....... out of all the foreign students in kilkenny, I can say there are only two fit ones, french... and to be honest by the look of them I could get arrested if I went near them.

Hate it when they start making comments in Spanish about you (or people around you) when you're in a fast food restaurant, then pointing and laughing.

And the problem isn't with Spanish students in general, just the male ones.

    Ban male Spanish students!!!

    :ninja:

Stayed at friend's uncle's house last summer which is in Spain, he speaks fluent Spanish.
He says whenever he is in Ireland, he always hear people talking about how the Spanish kids are insulting them even though they are talking about cráp etc..

They do my head in. On the bus going home the other day theres a load of empty seats, but they just stand in everyones way roaring and shouting in Spanish and staring at you like youve three heads. When they walk down the street they seem to just stretch across the street in a line so its impossible to get past them.

    THEYRE ALL FOOLS!!!!

(But then, I have no patience whatsoever)

I nearly killed one yesterday, she started crossing the road without even looking:rolleyes: It scared the bejayus out of her and me. I sort of felt sorry for her then, just as well I wasn't going to fast.

its a lingual thing that they shout tho... its part of the way that the language is spoken, you shout your ****ing head off.

I hate thems as well, especially when they stand on a main street in a group of about 30 talking. That really pisses me off.

jesus and i thought i was bad, before this thread they annoyed me but after actually seeing it written down it aint so bad.
they are ment to be here to learn english and yet never speak a word of it
So if there were 30 of you and your m8's in say germany ud all speak german to each other while outside of 'school'. Come now dont make me laugh.
there is soooo many of them and they block up every shop, path, pub, dart station, bus stop, street corner.
They do block up a lot of places but thats purely because there is so many of them. This is the most stupid thing ive ever seenw riten tbh. I see Irish people blocking up the path every day everywhere, blocking up shops and pubs. GOSH i think they are tryign to buy stuff. If they get the bus somewhere they aitn exactly go 5 on each bus if there is alarge group of them. ''ok now first 5 on this bus and then next 5 on next on and so on"
You never see scumbags hanging around blocking up front of ships or street corners im guessing?
    they are pushy and over-baring
Haven't noticed this but i wouldnt take **** from em if they did. I just walk straight through a group of them if i need too. They make way.
they are so very very LOUD
Hate to break it to you but so am i when im on Holiday with a load of friends. Sure it annoys me that i can hear them shouting at eachother on Nassau street when im working but hey i can hear the cars too and i dont complain do i? or the police sirens or.. think u get my meaning.
however there are quite a few fine spanish girls

Indeed there are but they do seem to be so young ;)

They're getting worse,2day as I was walking into stephens green shopping centre aboout 50 of them ran(literally) into me and my friend!! AGHH!!! And those matching bags?! guys with bright pink ones? WTF! And they're all over the country....

  • Subscribers Posts: 9,716 ✭✭✭CuLT

There are quite a lot of them, not a problem for me really :) , better than having a crapload of loud, ignorant Irish skangers getting pissed and puking everywhere...

(Which is incidentally what the Spanish deal with every summer).

Just be thankful they're not from the other "community" who wander around town. They beat their women and have no respect for the Irish at all, apparently.

aside from that I find these two particular sentences from this thread quite hilarious:
1)they are ment to be here to learn english and yet never speak a word of it
This is the most stupid thing ive ever seenw riten tbh.
    ^The Irony  ^

Yeah, HILARITY Cult. Aren't we lucky to be so intemellectual that we can look down on these peasants?

If I wanted to be incredibly pedantic I could say that in the first quote, he's talking about the spoken word not the written one so there really isn't much irony involved given the fact that the sentence is grammatically correct.

I was cycling back from work one day and a load of them pile out of a 48a ahead of me (the cycle path is one of those off the road, beside the pavement ones).

So from plenty of distance away I shout at them to vacate just enough of the path to let me past. Not one of them turned around and they continued to walk in a big mob covering both cycle lanes and the pavement.

I continued to shout to try and get my presence recognised, they eventually realised I was there when I had to pass them on the grass verge

I blame the schools they go to, it was a short distance walk to where they were going (Wesley College) and I think they should really have been told in advance that the cycle lanes are there for a reason and that they should check before swarming all over the lanes.

I won't stand for anyone defending them, in the net cafe i work in. they cram through the door, about 30 at a time. 5 of them walk up to the counter, the other 25 just hang about,Yelling and shouting, The 12yr old couples are eating the face off eachother in the middle of the shop floor, filling the place with smoke, tipping their marlbro lights all over the floor, leaving a mess behind. I walk up to them and say 'Sorry, but anyone not useing a computer, will have to leave' and they just look at me with their vacant faces, then mutter something in spanish to eachother. Then there's the 5 who walk up to the counter, not 1 at a time, but all 5 of em, crowd the counter, they fight for my attention, yelling in the most arrogant voice. COMPOOT.ER, HOW MOOCH, WAN HOWER(1 hour). So i send them off to 5 computers. Then they spill their coke's and marlbro lights on the keyboards, and crash and clog up the computers with MSN and a load of other crap, complaining to me, and yell and shout in general, even after being told to keep it down. They're rude ignorant f*uckwits. Ive never seen a group of irish teenagers behave in this manner. MANNERS thats another thing they lack, The first words i learn whenever traveling to a forign country are 'please' and 'thank you' The spanish education system seem to have left these two words out of their english curriculum. Rarely do they say these 2 simple words to me. Its just, How much? Where es toylet? The pinter es working, no.

I could go on for ages, i keep coming up with new arguments as i write.

Its just these spanish students in particular, there are many other forign communities in dublin, that don't act this way, and are very polite, such as the chinese and russians.
Although has to be said they bring in a lot of money. But Id rather be in an economic depression, than a room full of spanish students.

they seem to have taken over Waterford. i don't complain though. one day about 50 of them took over Michael Street and would not move which was a pain but with some of those Spanish ladies it's like a walking Slydice Special

The Spanish students that get sent to Ireland for 6 weeks in the summer are spoilt rich kids whose parents can't wait to see the back of them. And you expect manners?

  • Moderators, Arts Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators Posts: 11,249 Mod ✭✭✭✭Hellrazer

Not one of you here has had anything good to say about the students staying here for a month or so to learn English.
    Heres the facts.
1.They are NOT all rich kids sent here by there parents to learn English. The majority of them are from poor backgrounds who get a Spanish government scholarship to come to Ireland to learn English for a month.

2.The reason you perceive them as loud is because in Spain they have recreation areas in which they meet their friends(which they have an extensive amountof)and can be loud etc. and basically when they get here they are put into the Suburbs of major cities where they have nothing to do at night but hang around. You forget that in Spain these people can legally drink from the age of 16 and usually go for meals and then a few drinks at night. At least they are not hanging around drinking and fighting like Irish groups of teenagers.

3.The paranoia of you lot amazes me.They are NOT slagging you off in Spanish
In the colleges they are not allowed to speak one word of spanish so when they meet up with their friends Im sure they have better things to talk about in Spanish than slagg people off.

4.As for the crowding issue-thats purely because there are so many of them in an area or else they all arrange to meet their friends at a designated spot.

Imagine if you went to spain to learn spanish-Id imagine you d be the same---wanting to meet up with all the Irish you could.
Give them a chance, get to know them. They are actually very friendly people who us Irish could learn a lot from.
    Richie.

i would like to raise a point to destroy my own argument.....every summer thousands of irish mix with the thousands of brits and everyone else to go to spain and completely fook the place up with yobbism etc.

pigman, am i the first person to come on after hours to bitch about something?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 272 ✭✭jammy_dodger

Hellrazer all very valid, good points.
But it still dosen't change the fact that they get on everyones nerves. Thats what this is all about. How annoying they are. Not all of em are bad. Individually their a nice bunch of folk. But in a crowd they're im possible and barely tollerable.

Bit of a typo there, I presumed you were supposed to say... In the colleges they are not allowed to speak one word of Spanish

    Just pointing out.

    John....

Oh and by the way, I have no problem with them other than the fact that they are rude. Skipping a queue and shouting at the person behind the counter and demanding things isnt cultural I'm sure.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,240 ✭✭✭✭Sangre

In Spain there is no oral english exam so they never ever have to speak Spanish.

Just got off the phone from my girlfriend
who works in a clothes shop in a big department store, and apparently spanish students are renound for their stealing. When ever a group walks in, the security follow them around. And just about 30 mins ago. A security guard caught 3 out of a group of 15 stealing Shampoo, yes thats right Shampoo. Apparently they do it for de Buzzz!
Thats the 3rd time in the whole deparment store over the past 5 days they've caught the spanyards at it.

disclaimer: Yes i know not all spanish students are thieves, but a fair amount of em are up to it.
