    Silver - 1730 I think, definitely 17somthing.

But you're so close to getting Gold though

Yeah, another night of ROFL stomping and you'll be 2000+. More of that purple money stuff for the Golden Gun(S)

Out you're so close to getting Gold though

Maybe y'all can drag my ass to gold over the weekend.

I'm only messing about putting it down, but I've also no particular interest in getting Gold or anything else (possibly cause I don't know what it means beyond being a rank... do you get anything from it?). If I have gaming time, and it is overwatch people are playing at the time, I will join in and see what happens.

I only play Overwatch for the group play. I like being told where to go and what to do. I have no interest in playing it solo - though I would guess I would be quicker to become good at players if I did. As it is you all tend to let me do what I want, or tell me to go to whichever one of the few characters that I am somewhat comfortable with for a specific reason and tell me exactly what I am to do. I feel the rank I got is a reflection of you lot rather than my own abilities, so I'm not attached to it or concerned with pushing it higher - if it goes higher it will be because youself or Kaiser or Totz or JCD etc pulled off some awesome clutch Ult combo plays while I was running back from the spawn!

I am enjoying playing Soldier - and I enjoy it when I change to a different character and it works out. Such as swapping to Bastion last night in the last match I played (which we drew) and helped defend that B point with your help (shield). Some enjoyable cancer play!

Its only really now I feel I have an idea of what I need to be doing at a given point - and that I feel I can pull off some plays that actually help. Got an awesome 4 kill on the capture point last night in our second game - just as they were about to flip it - Soldier Ult, a number of kills. Think I heard some compliments on it at the time too! Even thought I had a chance at play of the game.... but fecking Kaiser (I think) with Junkrat took it. DAMN HIM.

Argos was the cheapest (than Amazon). Was getting other stuff out there so was able to avail of the €5/€50 and €10/€100 voucher thing too

That link just leads me to a search page, what was the name of the HDD?

I like being told where to go and what to do

You're in good company so :pac:
I have no interest in playing it solo - though I would guess I would be quicker to become good at players if I did.

There's 4 main benefits to playing on your own

    1) It's easier to concentrate on what you are doing in terms of just your own role as it's quieter,

    2) If you want to try a brand new hero, you're not limited to "we need a 3rd tank" type craic, you can run Hanzo/Sombra whatever and not get flack for it

    3) You're playing with other solo players for the most part with some3) pairs of 2 or groups of 3 doted around and your ELO is accounted for, you'd be playing against players on your level as opposed to your team of 6s level.

    4) You can learn how to counter a Hero when you have played as that Hero.

You'll learn how to bait Roadhog and when he'll retreat (usually) if you have played as him a bit. You can get inside players heads, this is usually the difference I find between Platnium/Gold and Silver/Bronze.
The reason I'd say I've placed so highly can be largely attributed to me playing 15 heros for 3+ hours.
So now I know what makes those heros lives hell (say Bubbling a character as Roadhogs hook pulls them in as opposed to before).

In Gold ranking, you'd want to be able to play >8 heroes to be effective.

Generally playing QP Solo just a handful of times a week is beneficial overall to your enjoyment and understanding of the game and is a worthy investment
I am enjoying playing Soldier - and I enjoy it when I change to a different character and it works out. Such as swapping to Bastion last night in the last match I played (which we drew) and helped defend that B point with your help (shield). Some enjoyable cancer play!

Changing characters wins matches, simply put. None of this "Pharah is causing us problems" carry on, if she is and you don't have a counter, get one. We rinsed that Rheinheart when you played as Bastion and that cause their strategy to fall apart
Its only really now I feel I have an idea of what I need to be doing at a given point - and that I feel I can pull off some plays that actually help.

Well you're only level 30 now, this is why Comp is locked out for players under 25, you don't know enough about the Heros/Maps/Modes/Types to be effective

The game starts to get a lot better around level 50 imho. That's when I felt everything really started to click into place and I was like "I get it now"

You should give the Destiny Podcasts a rest and check out Overwatch Centrals advice/guide/"how to play x" Youtube videos (even if it's just Audio).

I can tell Dudeeile has watched some of them now when we play :P

So long story short, try solo queue for a few matches here and there with characters who are good at high levels or in the Meta that you are not comfortable with, you'll notice overall you'll play better (people like Mei, Dva, Roadhog, Ana, Symettra, Reaper maybe etc and avoid, personally speaking, Widowmaker, Hanzo, Sombra, and maybe Genji or McCree)

Games more fun at level 25+ and more fun again at lvl 50+ imho

Hmm... Was thinking about the Seagate FireCuda, which apparently is much faster - but twice the price. €90 for a HDD - that's got me very interested but I'd have to drive to Blanch...

Unless your putting an SSD into the ps4 then the speed wont make any noticeable difference :D

I'm interested in the Firecuda as well, but has an rrp of £125. Pity I didn't have the money when Amazon were selling the 2tb for £100 at Christmas.

There are some tests and reviews online, an SSD outperforms a 7200 and that in turn outperforms a 5400 but the gains are marginal.

Which begs the question of whether the price point is worth it.

The FireCuda is an "SSHD" HDD, apparently the higher RPM (not sure about read / write speeds) make it 5X faster than a standard HDD.

To be honest, for almost twice the price - I'm not sure it's worth it. 5X faster seems a bit unbelievable to me.

I've got an older model sshd in my PS3 and the load times were significantly faster for games that require an install. GT5 loaded tracks about 10 seconds quicker(about 15%) than my stock 60gb hdd

Ehhhh. I generally only load a game once a day and then play it for 3 hours. I can forgoe the saving of 1.5 seconds in the department

The likes of Witcher 3 and Battlefield 1 see huge benefits with an SSD, particularly battlefield as you'll spawn before everyone else and have the pick of the vehicles etc. Outside of those games I wouldn't say its worth it though.

Yep ya want to get on these, great help for your chosen character but an even bigger help for the ones you don't get to play so often.

Analysis of PS4 stock HDD and SSD versus PS4 pro stock and SSD loading times:

    Fallout 4:

    PS4 HDD: 55.30 seconds
    PS4 SSD: 29.06 seconds
    Pro HDD: 48.54 seconds
    Pro SSD: 26.40 seconds

    Witcher 3:

    PS4 HDD: 1m 32.3s
    PS4 SSD: 1m 09.2s
    Pro HDD: 1m 18.6s
    Pro SSD: 1m 07.3s

    Just cause 3:

    PS4 HDD: 1m 10.2s
    PS4 SSD: 43.52 seconds
    Pro HDD: 1m 16.4s
    Pro SSD: 42.29 seconds

    Project Cars:

    PS4 HDD: 50.30 seconds
    PS4 SSD: 40.26 seconds
    Pro HDD: 43.58 seconds
    Pro SSD: 41.03 seconds

PS4 pro stock seems to be greatly faster anyway - not much gain there. But the original PS4 seems to be much improved with SSD. I'm not sure how the SSHD would figure into that, probably somewhere in between.

Cormac, it's not just the initial game loading, these times are taken from loading into specific maps. The PS4 pro with SSD sees about 30% reduction in loading times, when compared to PS4 stock HDD.

The sshd will fall between the two, but closer to the stock hdd than ssd.

As for load times on the pro, its a double whammy for being quicker between the faster clock speed and the fact it supports SATA3 as opposed to the original which only supports SATA2.

The last time I checked, just under a year ago, the differences between normal HD and SSD were not so large. Without watching the video, is he using a 5400 or 7200rpm HD for his comparison.
