    Did he recover his cash?

No. He's down 4k as a result. Could have been worse though. He could have been down 4k plus a 4k car as well.

That's not where that checkpoint was. The one on the Garda Twitter is usually under the bridge as you are coming towards Finglas Village.

Drunk driving doing 130km/h in a 50 & the other 10 year ban.

They are 2 dumb a## hats that we all hope we never have the misfortune of coming across.

I would love to be in the court room to hear the excuses.

These people don't need excuses, they're ENTITLED. Be more along the lines of your wan in limerick "shove it up yer hole garda I'll get a better car tamarraaaa"

And they have abundantly demonstrated that they give zero shites about insurance, bans, drink-driving or any other part of the social contract the vast majority of us subscribe to when we operate heavy machines at speed in close proximity to each other, and will undoubtedly get themselves back on the road at their earliest convenience.

Persistently drink driving and/or no tax/insurance. Eamonn Dunphy got a 10 year ban for the above. This was 2 years after serving a 7 year ban.

im agreeing with you not telling you what a numpty is just to clarify :)

    Numptys were the gardai

Why wasn't the car lifted first time round? Someone who drives without a visible insurance disk isn't going to give a **** if they're told not to drive with no insurance

I dunno, there are certain places you'd do that speed in that speed zone handy enough.

I doubt it was on a traditional 50km/h stretch with a school, tight roads, parked cars either side, etc. (as you'd never be able to) but there are zones that are 50 that drop to that limit from 80 (which previously dropped form 100) as you travel N roads and come to miniature one-road towns.

Not defending him, by any means, but I reckon there are 50 zones where you could do 130 and still be 'safe', but it sounds a lot more dangerous than it actually is.

What I can never understand is, why do people who have no insurance, or who have been drinking, are disqualified, etc. always do something else to draw attention to themselves?

Surely if you're gonna drink drive, if you want to get away with it, obvious things like speeding, not wearing a seat belt, running red lights, etc. are things that should not even be mildly considered to be done?!

If you were best car is silver, keep it clean with all lights working and follow the heard but under the limit.

Seems we are lucky a lot of the time they aren't that bright.

I know someone who has been caught 19 different occasions without a licence never had one or insurance or tax or nct. Some occasions car had tax and nct as was bought with it but they don't care.

Right there is the problem. You could name but there would be no shame. Until it starts hitting income/dole at a proper level, it will continue as there is no deterrent. Don't do it again a bit louder than before is a waste of breath.

I dont think i have even talked to a guard 19 times in 20+ years driving. and that includes the times i spent getting documents signed in garda stations.
