Kilbane, Andrews, Cunningham and Dan McDonnell. Any of those 4 are able to offer a far greater insight than Richie Sadier IMO.

I think your giving the new lot way too much credit here. OTB is just a continuation of SC's work, SC's are the ones that developed the show to what it is now. The new crowd have hardly changed a thing, they're still following the same formula that was there before they took over. The difference is they have 13 hours of airtime a week as opposed to SC's 4, Which means they can spend more time on topics.

The new OTB is OK, but it is just pale imitation of the original line up.

I wouldn't disagree really but I think OTB, especially the Football show, is better than what SC produces now. For me it is a better listen for insight with an inferior sense of humour.

SC has a small budget, can't react to live sport and can't interact with texters during the show so it is limited.

In a perfect world the original lineup would still be on OTB I'm sorry to say.

Personally I think Richie is on par with these guy but my persona favourite is Kenny.

Your inclusion of McDonnell in that list is a nonsense. I'm amazed anyone thinks this guy has anything insightful to offer.

Kenny is good. Andrews is okay. I'd take Richie over both of them though.

No, Richie is supposed to be presenting the second one. It was late when he did it last week too.

I really don't get their fascination with Ritchie. Boring, whiney voice, not really suited to broadcasting. I can't listen to him

    I didn't.
I think Ritchie is painful to listen to and regularly disappears up his own arse. He fancies himself as a bit of a Sigmund Freud. He works in the pseudo psychology area.Which of course he was careful to mention.
The lads seem to idolise him a bit which is kind of sad.

I've never heard anything insightful from Kilbane. I really like him he seems like a genuine guy but he's captain obvious in fairness.

Just listening to the interview with Katie Cook (?) from Monday.

Excellent stuff! Such an interesting story and she comes across really well. The clip of her having a seizure and then being like "Come on! Let's go! No time to rest!" by the time the guy had actually got to her was hilarious.

In a way I wasn't wholly shocked. But, having said that, It was still amazing to hear such inarticulate gibberish from a public representative. Absolute baloney talk at about the level of some fella spoofing at the bar after several pints; like something out of Father Ted. The man couldn't string a coherent sentence together!

He clearly hadn't given a second thought to this assembly... Obviously to him the sports committee is the cushy down time committee..

Such absolute waffle about being worried about kids having too many options to play sport... Unreal stuff, when I was growing up it was too few options outside the local GAA club to play sport.

But I fear that was ultimately the motivation...

Just caught up with that today as well - really inspiring stuff.

It was like a breath of fresh air after 30 mins of Shane Horgan and Gerry Thornley droning on about rugby. I actually fast forwarded most of it tbh....they are perilously close to Graham Hunter territory at this stage.

I'm not a massive rugby fan by any means but surely they (and OTB/RTE etc) can do more than forensically discuss Munster & Leinster week in week out. Is there an appetite out there for some coverage of the English or French leagues?

Thornley has been straddling that line with a long time to be fair. Horgan has a ways to go to ever reach those depths.

Richie's one isn't a bad listen (I don't usually listen to the soccer one) it's more about contracts and how it's changed for young players, quite interesting.

Really enjoyed the Stephen Elliot interview. Wasn't expecting much but we got some great insight on academy culture, Roy Keane in his early days in management and other interesting things from his career. Seems like a sound fella, hope it works out for him at Drogheda.

Liked Sadlier's story of pissing off Keane at the start, he obviously gave Ken the same order to stay out of studio during the interview that Gilesy would give in the OTB days :pac:

Listened to that Jarlath Regan interview, was almost like Ken was on the psychologists chair at times, doesn't surprise me that he doesn't feel like he's living the dream doing that job, I think he's right in saying that Conor McGregor's life is probably quite boring.

Agree, his voice is like nails on a blackboard at this stage.

Yes, he is bright and very confident, but at times he comes across as a smug know-it-all.

Decent football show today. Not sure what the lads were on about that people no longer see Rooney as a bit thick. The average football fan mostly would see Rooney as a little simple.

The Game podcast today was titled Is Wayne Rooney a genius?

    They were being serious too.

They didn't call their podcast that after he was smashing keys on that piano in the hotel for that wedding while on England duty. Seem to remember Ken Early taking the p*** out of him for that.

To be fair, they weren't holding him out as a genius.. Just not a simpleton. Which he's clearly not.
