Special mention to the assh*les with extendable dog leads who walk on one side of the path while letting the dog walk on the other. F*ck anyone who might be walking in the opposite direction.

If you're jogging, it's assumed that you're delighted with the choice of (a) running up a grass verge /veering on to the road (b) being forced to practically brush off their scary looking mutt.

    Salut.

I'd say most dogs are cleaner than most people and i'd sit on a bus seat after a dog with no hesitation.
Guide dogs don't sit on seats.
Responsible dog owners look aftet and teach their dog well.

I love animals. I grew up in a house full of them but some people are just weird about them.

I remember reading years ago that something like 30 or 40 percent of pet owners would rescue their pet rather than a strangers baby if a building was on fire. I just can't get my head around rescuing a dog or cat over a human baby.

While that is an extreme example, I also like to be considerate of the people who dont like kids.

In my experience kids are far more of a nuisance and dirtier than any dog, be it in on public transport or elsewhere.

Parents of said kids have to show consideration to the folk who dont think the sun shines out of little Johnnys hole. In my experience most parents let kids run riot in most places, annoy the **** out of everyone and then get horrified when and if its brought up, as if kids have a divine right to be loved by everyone.

Yeah it's a real issue for me bringing my kids out in public: what with them biting people, barking at joggers; dry humping other kids, sh1tting on football pitches and licking their testicles.

It's still a child. I can't see how anyone can defend letting a child (Or any other human) die just to save an animal.

If I was to flip it around that someone would kill a child rather than an animal it's even more clear how wrong that is.

People generally control their dogs and look after them in public, same can't be said for most people with their kids.

It isn't an either/or situation. People with dogs should respect other passengers, the same as people with children.

Andekwarhola, and others: For 'Disclosure' and clarity here, can we, please, state if we have Dogs, cats, or kids? ;) (Please save the sh!t about goats. Not interested)

Me? Dogs. Had kids. Gave them away :)

Bit of a generalisation that. There are responsible and irresponsible pet owners and parents. I'd say there's probably a huge correlation between the two.

Why do people with dogs think everyone else should love dogs..

On a packed bus and some pr1ck with his mutt letting the dog sit up on the seat. After flipping he looked at me like i insulted his mother..

Its a pity the dog didnt take a lump out of you

Seriously, Andek; I have Dogs. I Never take them into town. Even on the tracks around us, I pick up their sh!t and sling it in the ditch. I can't believe the way people, in the town, let their Dogs crap where ever, and just walk on with their noses in the air! Those people appal me!

In any form of shared transport? My Dog will sit on my lap. It doesn't even get to look at the driver / fellow passenger, unless they specifically encourage it.

I've no idea what sort of a Father I'd have made. But, I'm sure asd hell my own kids would have had manners and respect for other people.

Anyway; Please forgive my manner, everyone. I'm coming down from a major flare up here :o Real life just got in the way of forum mentality there.

    Apologies. Carry on :)

I judge people who don't like dogs.

Tells you immediately that there's something wrong with them. That they have some kind of personality flaw.

I don't mean afraid of them, that explainable. I mean people who actually don't like dogs, to the point that they'll grimace when they see one or have a rant about them. It's just plain weird.

I don't dislike dogs. I dislike irresponsible or clueless dog owners, of which there are unfortunately many.

Because people who like dogs are the epitome of mental stability

Makes sense to me. You love your dog, you don't love a stranger's baby.

I don't see it as a personality flaw. I think it has more to do with their capacity for caring. I know it's completely irrational but I don't trust people who hate dogs. Sure, bad people can love dogs but there is something weird about people who hate them.

To be honest, I suppose I feel that way about any person who hates a living create. To be clear, I mean hate and not merely strongly dislike.

You're not wrong. Dogs are always licking their hoops, so they'd be clean as a whistle.

Their tongues on the other hand......

I love Dogs. Loving and loyal creatures when treated right. What I detest are young couples with a dog, be they living together, engaged or newly married. The dog is some kind of fooking experiment for the day they have kids. From observation, the dog tends to be neglected in terms of its actual needs. Hardly walked. Fooked out the small garden when it doesn't suit the arseholes. Treated like a baby when it suits the arseholes and then cast aside once a human baby arrives.

I firmly believe that Irish women use dogs as some form of baby practise for the lads they are with.

Never said i didnt like dogs. As the thread title is "people with dogs" my major gripe is people who let there dog sit on the seats on public transport and general lack of awareness of keeping dogs in parks etc.

    Pig ignorant view.
This whole animal loving treat em better than you'd treat a fellow human being is a by product of the social media bandwagon where it's all chest beating from the supposedly higher branches of society.
Most dog owners in my real life experiences are self centred idiots who don't give a toss for anyone else.

Yeh pretty much agree. I was slightly afraid of dogs when I was very young, but never disliked them as such.

Your pet dog gives you unconditional love, even if people on buses don't.

That's only because you feed the damm thing.
Tell the dog to go out and get a job and rent their own gaffe .... and then see if it'll come back on the weekends to give you 'unconditional love'.
