still think o'donnell would be better used as an impact sub , starting someone like shanagher or playing Cunningham or conlon inside would change the dimension of the froward line as a whole , there will have to be some sort of change in personal to both the starting line up and the panel it cant remain the same , there are lots of guys across the county that have been over looked up to now

    clare 1-10 0-8 waterford

the footballers got there 2017 campaign underway with a win in the mcgrath cup against waterford in meelick , a result that was never in any doubt after conor cleary's early first half goal kept waterfort at an arms lenght lead for the rest of the game . collins got to blood a number of squad players from last years panel along with the re addition of john hayes from kilrush, colm's nephew eoin from ballyhaunis lined out at corner back

only worry for management was the large number of wides kicked reached almost double figures in both half's , limerick await in ratkeale on Wednesday night

Does anyone know for certain the venue for Wednesday nights game? I've heard Rathkeale, Gaelic Grounds and St Patrick's in Rhebogue all mentioned this evening.

St Patrick's or the Gaelic grounds would suite clare down to the ground. Giving the fact they are doing most of there training in U.L

    limerick 2-13 - 2-09 clare

colm colins made 10 changes to the side that beat waterford sunday , few debut's handed out again tonight darren nagle probably the stand out in defense , keelan sexton and conor cleary the main scores again , alot of work needs to be done between now and the 5th of febuary for the trip to derry

good win for limerick , good to see them going back in the right direction it looks like they will kick on and contest the final against cork or kerry

CLARE: Joe Hayes; Darren Nagle, John Hayes, Martin McMahon; Liam Markham, Gordon Kelly, Cian O’Dea; Gary Brennan and Cathal O’Connor; Shane Brennan, Shane McGrath, Darragh Bolton; Eoin Cleary, Keelan Sexton and Gearóid O’Brien. Subs: Jamie Malone for Darragh Bolton (h-t), Ciaran Russell for Liam Markham (h-t), Seanie Malone for Gearoid O’Brien (51mins), Sean Collins for Shane McGrath (60mins) Eoghan Collins for Darren Nagle (63mins), Ciaran Malone for Shane Brennan (66mins)

    2 - Eoin Quirke (Whitegate)
    3 - David Fitzgerald (Inagh-Kilnamona)
    4 - Seadna Morey (Sixmilebridge)
    5 - Jason McCarthy (Inagh-Kilnamona)
    6 - Conor Cleary (Kilmaley)
    7 - Brendan Bugler (Whitegate)
    8 - Colm Galvin (Clonlara)
    9 - Kevin Hehir (Inagh-Kilnamona)
    10 - Cathal Malone (Sixmilebridge)
    11 - Podge Collins (Cratloe)
12 - Aaron Cunningham (Wolfe Tones na Sionna)
13 - David Reidy (Éire Óg Inis)
14 - Aron Shanagher (Wolfe Tones na Sionna)
    15 - Cathal McInerney (Cratloe)

    SUBSTITUTES:
    16 - Patrick Kelly (Inagh-Kilnamona)
    17 - Cian Dillon (Crusheen)
    18 - Shane McNamara (Clooney-Quin)
19 - Ben O'Gorman (Wolfe Tones na Sionna)
    20 - Stephen O'Halloran (Clarecastle)
    21 - John Conlon (Clonlara)
    22 - Conor O'Donnell (Crusheen)
    23 - Peter Duggan (Clooney-Quin)
    24 - Cathal O'Connell (Clonlara)
    25 - Shane Golden (Sixmilebridge)
    26 - Jamie Shanahan (Sixmilebridge)
    27 - Shane O'Donnell (Éire Óg Inis)
    28 - Bobby Duggan (Clarecastle)

I wonder is Fitzgerald the long term option at full back with a look ahead the the championship. Interesting Reidy at corner forward, he probably takes the frees too. I thought he played his best hurling last year at midfield, but I think paired with Galvin they are a bit light.

First thing that stands out from that panel is the size and strength. Much more physical look to the side .

big chance for cathal mac to take over the next few weeks he has played well for cratloe in his inter county hiatus . Kevin hehir is also deserved of his place on club and under age form .

Probably not going to find out a whole lot today but the next few weeks Will be interesting

    clare 2-24 1-15 kerry

good work out in the first half kerry kept the game competitive up to the break with the scores at 1-12 -0-11 at half time the wind in the second half helped our lads kick on to a comfortable 12 point win

limerick await in sixmilebridge wednesday night and a much better effort will be expected by them after there trouncing at home to cork today albeit with a very inexperienced side

Scorers: David Reidy (0-11 10F), Padraic Collins (1-03), Kevin Hehir (1-01), Cathal Mc Inerney (0-02), Aron Shangaher, Jason Mc Carthy, Cathal Malone, Seadna Morey, Peter Duggan ((0-01 each).

Yeah Cork gave Limerick a right trashing. That could be interesting if Cork are putting a lot of focus on spring hurling as we play them in the first round of the league down there, could be a tough game.

To be quite honest, I'm not expecting much from us early this year, it's going to take time for this management to get the team going. Also, they always coach the backs to run the ball out of defense, which isn't going to be easy at this time of year. My only care for now is the 4th of June, my judgement will be reserved til then!

Exactly 4th June is what it is all about , this is the time to learn , need to focus on summer rather than spring

confidence levels in cork are at an all time low , they really need a good league , i still think the munster league game between the two sides in a few weeks time will offer an insight to how the first round of the league will pan out

i imagine certain quarters of limerick hurling are up in arms over the manor of the defeat yesterday , an expected reaction will make for an interesting game but like yourself i find it very hard to get excited about a preseason competition when most teams are still doing the heavy work in training

Can't remember the last time we played such a big front 8 (except Tots and Reidy), it's a positive selection I think, at least we know the management are bring proactive in addressing this weakness. Galvin at 6 is kinda strange given that we have about 7 guys on the bench that can play half back. Great to see Conor Ryan back too.

I thought it was a dreadful performance.
The two major positives were Reidys free taking and Donal moloneys trip across the pitch with about 15 to go politely requesting the players to stop boll1xing about with the ball at midfield

I expect us to be much more direct tomorrow night.

Is Conor Cleary putting Kilmaley down as his club? I thought his main club would be Miltown, Colin Lynch always had Lissycasey down as his club when he was playing

Nah, there was a gombeen that used to insist on putting Lynch down as Lissycasey in programmes. No one took any real notice.

I think it was more than that to be honest, the player's club should be where they pay their membership, Lynch would always have paid his membership to Lissycasey for example so that would always have been his club.

Good looking team, there's goals in the full forward line. I like the look of the half backs, three good stickmen that can delver good balls inside. I think 11 is Cian Lynch's best position most definitely, it suits his attributes best as he has great vision and an ability to turn his man and take a score.

It wasn't great was it!!!! Two awful goals conceded was the biggest problem from this evening. The first one especially was just criminal from Dillon.

Hard to judge much on that but we really have to improve our catching of high ball and even just passes.

Yeah i thought we would be fine with winning ball given the make up of the team but I suppose Duggan Malone Shanagher werent great. Bar Golden and Conlon in the first half, nobody played well.

He owns a coal business in town and I always get my fuel (coal, timber and gas) off him, he always has great product and is cheaper than most of the other places around town, it helps that he puts the coal into the bunker for me and I'm a lazy git.

Again it's January lads . Remember last year or the league in 2014 ...all led to false promise

What I like so far is the management are willing to give plenty of lads a run out plus aiming for a more physical aspect can't be a bad thing
