    Hi guys,
has anybody rented a van before to go onto the continent and back? any advice on doing so?

I have some equipment that needs to be dropped to western Germany and was going to visit friends along the way, priced the haulage to courier the equipment and the price of it was upwards of €1k 1 way  so thought rental and self drive might be easier

You'd be driving 1100km odd in a fully laden van taking a ferry + tunnel.
    Feck that.

    40 hour journey each way.
    €120 minimum on tolls.
    Minimum 300 litres of diesel.
€500 ferry fare if you get a cabin.
