If you look at the marketing and the launch, they really pushed the idea that this is a large SUV and really spacious. The fact is its not. Looking at its dimensions and the reviews so far, its a compact SUV.

It's a hair under 4.7 metres long. That'd be an extremely long compact.

Not really, most compact class 7 Seaters are a hair under 4.7 metres. The French were at pains to say their new 5008 is a C segment Compact 7 Seater. The Kodiaq is pretty much the same size. You could call it a medium size SUV if you like. Kinda difficult to put a size name on them now that manufacturers are effectively making super small SUVs now like the 2008. Whats for sure is its far from Large. For me its a compact/medium size 7 Seater SUV, straddling somewhere between an X-trail and a Sorento, of which neither are Large!

I know a man. A Skoda man as it happens. Now the Skoda man I know tells me that the 180bhp 4x4 DSG which is pretty much top of the line apart from optional extras will set me back around €47,500 .00. He said as a rule of thumb add between 2000 to 2500 the the price of any Superb and that will get in to the comparative Kodiaq....

    Not surprised. Kinda makes sense.

I wonder where this Skoda Man is getting his info from? I also know a Man, who's also a Skoda Man, but he hasn't a bog's notion about pricing or specification, as there's no info been released about either yet for the Irish market.

Got an update this morning from my Skoda Man, and it's not great news.
RHD production has been delayed again - starts first week of Feb but that will mainly be dealer demo cars.
Plan is to have some LHD press cars available for a few days in December - timeframe looks a bit tight to tour them around the place, so may be a few open days in various locations for people to look at it.
A Handful of LHD models due to Ireland at the start of next year. Based on timeframe and numbers I suspect these will be toured around Skoda dealers for folk to have a good poke around in before placing orders.

Pricing/Specification due for release towards end of January. Official showroom launch for Ireland should be around Paddy's day.

Does anyone else think that, from a certain angle, the rear looks like an early X5?

I still want one though. Pity I'll have to wait even longer to get to see one in the flesh.

Where do you live is it America. I would class a Sorento as a large car.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

Agreed - the only thing larger than a Sorento in this kind of car is pretty much Audi Q7 sized which is bigger than "large" in my opinion. I've seen Q7s 'parked' at my local Dunnes and they frankly don't fit in the spaces!

Is that not a judgement on the drivers ability to park? :D

Was in my local Skoda dealer yesterday - Monaghans, Galway.
Asked about the Kodiaq and the dealer's eyes kind of glazed over! :D

He said they still have no clue about pricing, specs, availability or ordering. They were due to get a display model for one weekend before Christmas, but it never happened.

He suggested that the start of RHD model assembly has been delayed until March and it's likely that all that production will be snaffled up by UK demand to start with. He added that realisitically, there will be no Irish registrations until 172 time frame, and possibly not until 181!

Skoda have fecked up here. The above is an example of rumours being spread from people who are guessing due to a lack of real information from Skoda. Anyone I know who got excited about this car are now fed up waiting to know pricing etc and have started to look elsewhere.

Update, Skoda Ireland have contacted me to say car will be here in March and prices will be announced before hand. I know this is the official line but that came from them today.

Good news, I think! I'll believe it when I see it... ;)

4 x LHD Skodiaq's will be toured around the various Skoda dealers throughout the country for static display. They have arrived to Ireland and will be here until the end of February - schedule for when they will be where is to be decided in the coming days. Dealers received a communication about this very recently.

Pricing is due to be released around the 26th January. Launch in dealers is Paddy's weekend. Certain number of each version have been allocated for this year to Irish dealers - UK requirements are seperate to Irish requirements and unless Ireland doesn't fill all it's slots, the UK cannot take Irish build slots.

I know my supplier has only been allocated 1 x 190DSG 4x4 and they are going to be in short supply if everyone who was interested is still interested, but they will be available from March 2017 onwards.

Thanks for that R.O.R - When did you get that info?

I was in my Galway dealer on Wednesday and they didn't know anything.

Sounds like they have sold their allocation or know they are not going to have enough to meet demand

How can they sell them and no idea of price:confused:

This is a total f*ck up of a launch from Skoda Ireland.
U.K. pricing has been out months and not a clue here. They won't even respond to my queries on social media about it.
I have rang 5 different dealers and none have a clue.
It's a great looking motor that's getting great reviews but the lack of info from Skoda is turning me off it at this stage.
A trip up the north might be in order.

Kodiaq supposed to be landing in Sheey's Skoda Naas this afternoon according to their Facebook page

And according to their Facebook page, Monaghan's in Galway will have (presumably the same) one on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Just spoke to someone from Monaghans, who was finally getting back to me about a trade-in price for my old car after test driving a Superb last Wednesday.

He confirmed they'll have a LHD Kodiaq to view 2nd half of this week, but said he still knew nothing about when prices/specs will be made available. And despite what R.O.R said above, he didn't admit to knowing anything about a Paddy's weekend launch.

From Skoda facebook: the KODIAQ will indeed be landing in March and prices will be confirmed and communicated before this arrival. As soon as we have an update we will share this on our page.

I think that Skoda might be missing out on the real potential the new Kodiaq should have had. Not only it does not look as well as it could but now it will be introduced late onto the market. Those looking for a mid range SUV with option of siting 7 passengers might wait a tad bit longer for the new Peugeot 5008, which imo is much better looking vehicle inside-out.
I was hoping that with the new Kodiaq Skoda will break the trend for boring/conservative VAG design. Instead they came out with the same old stuff. What's worse it looks like other cars: old X3 from the side, previous gen Jeep Cheeroke from the front etc. It's not original at all. Really disappointing.

Was just thinking the same, I looked at Skoda UK website and not massively impressed. The little I have seen of the new 5008 has me more impressed. Hopefully it will meet expectations

Went down to the Naas showroom and had a look. Its a high spec model and looks very good indeed. Lots of space inside and feels a bit wider than what I would be use to driving. Infotainment system looks and feels pretty slick too.
The best bit was that i talked to 3 sales people and they all told me different stories.
In relation to pricing 2 said to expect it at the end of the month the third said it will be out today at 530.
2 guys said they cant even take deposits because of pricing but the third guy said they had 5 sold already.........
I also got the impression that cash will be king before trade-is will be considered....
Anyway lets see what the pricing is like come the end of the month or 530 this evening.....

    That's hilarious! :p

Did you not ask that third guy what planet he was on?
How can they have sold 5 if there are no Irish prices or specs...

How long is the Kodiaq going to be at Naas?

I didnt bother questioning him as nothing suprises me about the car or any info i hear about it at this stage.
The same guy gave me the impression that cash buyers would be considered first due to sales targets or something like that. The impression was that trade ins might go to the back of the queue. Hopefully thats B.S.
It really is a joke of a launch in my opinion. The peugeot 3008 that was shown at the paris motor show the same time as the kodiaq has prices out since before christmas.
Not sure to be honest but it is ment to be in Naas until next Monday.

The one thing I can never understand with these cars that are sold as 7 seaters is why do they not put 3 individual seats in the middle row or at least give this as an option instead of a bench? This car I would have thought would be wide enough to do this. I think the new Peugeot 5008 will have this which is great. The only other option is a people carrier which people increasingly don't want.
