Ok I heard about this car at weekend. Think it was radio and it mentioned it was going to be the Skoda version of the Touareg.

I have done a number of searchs but haven't seen anything to confirm or deny this. Has anyone seen much on these?

We're in the market for a 7 seater ourselves so curious myself. Should be unveiled this week. I'm expecting them to very expensive. Given the price of a decently equipped/powered Superb I'm skeptical of their ability to compete with the Santa Fe/Sorrento. Also read that the UK range of engines was to top out at 140bhp until the hybrid arrives. Not sure if that's still the case, but it would kill any interest I'd have in one.

I though the kodiak would be more tuscon/sportage size.

There is also the Seat Ateca due to launch next month. Cost around €25/€30k.

I heard that the Kodiaq to arrive first will be a 7-Seater. This will be going up against the Sante-Fe / Toureg etc. Heard from a dealer that this could be close to €40k.

A 5- seater to follow later in 2017 which would be more comparable to the Sportage / Quashqai.

New-2017-Skoda-Kodiaq-SUV-1.jpgNo relation to the Touareg, standard MQB platform so going to be a 7 seat Superb basically and probably priced to match, much more infomation here Briskodabut don't expect anything concrete until it launches next week

The Kodiaq like the Ateca is based on the Tiguan which a longer 7 seater version will be launched early next year.

    Launches this Thursday, 1st September.

I'll be soooo disappointed if R.O.R doesn't reply with the "who loves ya baby?" and the info attached.

More a rival to the x trail I'd say.

It will be interesting to see if they follow through on the promise of the 300bhp Cupra version.

Drove the Ateca last week (was only a boggo 1.6) but to drive it's not at all rolly. Was pleasantly surprised. Looks terrible without the big wheels though.

    No, not yet.

Haven't a clue where it will end up price wise.

It couldn't possible go up against a Santa Fe and a Touareg? A Touareg is about twice the price of a Santa Fe

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,363 ✭✭✭✭bazz26

The Touareg starts at 70k so the Kodiak will not be competing with that. At a starting price of about 40k then it will compete with the likes of the Santa Fe/Kia Sorento/Tiguan 7 seater (when it arrives next year).

Those interior shots are fairly bleak.

It's not like they are allowed be better than the VW/Audi equivalent!
What would be the point of that?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,248 ✭✭✭✭BoJack Horseman

We'll certainly have a look when it hits the forecourts.

Skoda will be dropping the current Yeti which we have & is a terrific car, best in the segment imo.
Biggest drawback though is it's modestly sized boot.

The new Octavia & Superb were a little stingy on spec vs previous iterations.
    Hopefully the Kodiaq offers more.

It's grand. Watch that price skyrocket up with a decent engine and spec. I'd imagine they'll sell them in numbers at the entry level but can't imagine that they'll be able to compete on price with the top spec Sorrento/Santa Fe. At least they do have the 187bhp option. A year to wait is too long for me though.

Shades of Kadjar about it too.

More like the Audi Q5 or Q7.

So they have launched the VW Tiguan, the Seat Ateca, and now the Skoda Kodiaq - all basically the same but different in length. They are going to launch a LWB of the Tiguan next year.

I am quite interested in one - but they are in short supply - particularly the petrol versions.

I see it has a page on the Skoda Ireland website but no pricelist just yet.

Sadly yet another car designed with a narrow middle seat, so guaranteed it won't fit three child seats :(

Hoping to have confirmed pricing late next week / early next week. Dealer conference is on next week and they are hoping all info will be released there.

Production of RHD models is due to begin Week 2 of 2017, so first deliveries are expected around Mid Feb.

I'm told there has been absolutely no word on pricing or specification as of yet - but my supplier expects pricing and specification to be somewhere around Superb levels.

Unless they're happy to see Superb sales cannibalised I'd imagine it'll be the usual increase you'd see for a higher model. Kodiaq expected to start at 23k in U.K. Superb begins at 19k.

why not just buy a vw holds it value better or an Audi I have one great car instead of a Skoda which is fine but its a Skoda

Thanks yeah I get that! I should have clarified that I meant middle row so that boot is bigger. Very few cars, people carriers etc have space for three across the back and I was hoping for a Skoda option as my Superb is a disaster for it!

The two rearmost seats fold individually so you can leave one seat down to increase boot space.

    What Superb do you have?
The Kodiaq is significantly wider than the current Superb so it might take three child seats across the middle row.
I wouldn't get so dismayed based on one inconclusive photo...

I saw a UK motoring programme some time ago and it said that a Skoda depreciated no more than a BMW (in percentages). This is whay they were holding their second hand value. Just saying !.
