Finally, having accumulated all those packets of salt from fast food joints can be put to good use, time to make some money.

Pain in the hole. Hope it stays away tbh. Would be grand if I was sitting at home and looking out the window at it but I won't be so it'll be a nightmare.

This should be in the Weather forum.

The snow lovers over there will all be having organisms.

No, because its likely to be a dusting in parts of Ulster and Connacht at best.

There is no prolonged bouts of cold forecast for any parts of Ireland within the next week. Possibly some night time snow but the day time temperature would very quickly melt it. Sorry to disappoint/reassure depending on what you wanted to hear:pac:

I hope so. I bought a 4x4 recently, and I want to get at least some benefit from it.

Dunno if the salesman told you...4x4's are not amphibious vehicles. Tis a common misconception. Forwarned is forarmed ;-)

Safe driving and all the best with the new vehicle.

I might finally get to use the snow shovels I purchased in 2011.

I would like snow if there was some way to keep it off the roads, its just a f*cking pain trying to get anywhere in it.

I'm driving to Dublin on the 20th, hope to God the roads are clear that night.

Was wondering why Lidl had a pallet of salt outside the entrance door tonight €3.99 a bucket . Good advertising there OP

If it gets me up a couple of untreated hills that defeated my old car in an inch or two of snow, I'll be happy.

It doesn't seem to be shaping up to be a big freeze, but just a little layer would brighten up the most godawful month of the year (even if I have to endure denizens of amateur photographers on social media exploiting the powder for all it's worth).

It's the wet roads and low temperatures that I'm worried about.

Always thought it was a good way of separating the children from adults. Adults dont like snow. I love snow...still. I know its bad for traffic, old folk and gardeners.... But its a fantastic display of physics, precious because of its temporary-ness, and makes everywhere look so clean & tidy.

words like "whited sepulchers" drift through my mind.

I love snow BUT it can and does cause chaos. If I can stay home looking out etc grand.

Well, I forecast snow this week as soon as I got the date for my house move. Does not need to be a huge amount either; moving from one mountain to another.

We shall see; I have a great "man with a van" whose advice I will take. Skidding up and down mountain tracks in my small car with five cats and the dog in the back is an interesting idea....

Now it if would just wait until the week after when I am in and settled, great!

Bought snow cleats in Dealz a couple of weeks ago - they were cheap so thought why not. Now they could be worth a fortune!

I hope people break their holes in snow. And end up on the news.

    Not always

We can't all forget the man on ice? That was so funny. It's time we get a new one.

    Too true my friend.
I for one would welcome some snow. Wrapping up warm snugging indoors sipping a hot beverage.

Why did you buy it then if it has no other benefits?

For the higher ground clearance. I regularly have to drive on some very bad quality roads that damaged my previous car.

I think every job interview should have an attitude to snow question in it.

If the answer is 'Wheeeee!!! Snow!' then they're a childish nincompoop

If the answer is a tirade of complaining misery then they are a bit of a moaner

If the answer is 'ah sure, whether I like it or not we just have to get on with it's, sign them up :)

Hey, I resemble that remark.

Although when it snowed in 2010, I remember getting tired of it by around the fourth or fifth day. It stops being enjoyable when you slip six times while walking to the shop. Started to feel a bit like a pensioner - "Oh, he's just had another one of his falls..."

After the 3rd time you should have been crucified.
