I flew with Virgin a couple of years ago and unbeknownst to me they had an SD slot which allowed you to play media into their inflight entertainment system. Just wondering does anyone know if you can do the same on an Emirates flight?
I'm flying Dublin - Dubai- Singapore - Melbourne. I've had a look online and some say yes and others say no.

thanks for the quick reply. that's great. Do you know about file formats? As in which format plays or doesn't.

I'd be very wary of plugging any device into my computer or phone after its been connected to a device that I don't know how secure it is. What level of security does an aircraft network have against malicious software?

That's a very valid point and I had thought about it so I just now bought a cheap 32gb usb and the plan is to fill it with tv shows etc that I want to catch up on, watch it on the flight over and ditch when I arrive. I'm not overly impressed with the current selection offered by Emirates so this is best for me.
Still wondering if anyone knows about file formats supported. I assume mp4, avi?
