What, specifically, links Calvin Coolidge, Harry Truman and Gerald Ford?

Wives named Elizabeth? I know two of them were anyway.

Or were they all freemasons? Total guess this as I'm only aware of Ford being one.

That's it. They all succeeded to the presidency.

Coolidge was actually elected for his second term though. He'd succeeded Harding when he died suddenly in 1923.

Where would you commonly find a scomber?

In the sea (it's a mackerel, or a type of fish, anyway)?

I'd imagine you're right as the Atlantic Mackerel is Scomber scombrus.

That doesn't affect the commonality between them though.

Only because of his more infamous namesake. Tito.

Yep! I remember that 'cause it came up at a pub quiz I took part in aaaaaages ago. Well done! (Is there anything you don't know, Srameen? I mean, if Douglas Adams had met you, half of his books would have been pointless! :))

    All died on 4th July.

Adams and Jefferson actually died on the same day in 1826. The fireworks must have been exceptionally loud that night.

That's it. Adams and Jefferson dies on the fiftieth anniversary of their sign the declaration of independence and Munroe five years later.

    1. What links the following: (a) Ballydesmond village, Co. Cork; (b) Clarence House, London; (c) David Cameron; (d) a boarding secondary school in the Isle of Man?

An Olympic champion went on to become which country's president?

Correct answer = Hungary ( Pál Schmitt. ) And since nobody answered that in three days:

    2. Which ancient Roman temple's doors were always closed in times of peace?

Temple of Mars (god of war) would be the obvious guess?

It was Janus I think. God of beginnings and endings? Two-faced also I believe.

It wouldn't be the name William would it?

Errrr....no :o, it was a shot in the dark. The only data I had was that Ballydesmond Co. Cork was formerly called Williamstown and that William is David Cameron's second name. About neither Clarence House nor boarding schools in the Isle of Man I know not a jot.

I'm not claiming this one, as I feel you got it. King William (iv I think) is connected to all of them. I wouldn't have got it until you said William.
