I had this unlimited plan for €10 for 4 months earlier this year. (so the current offer of €5 for 5 months is a good bit better again!)

It was grand and my 4G speeds were excellent. I did switch back to Meteor after my trial was up though...

    That's a seriously impressive bargain. :D
Pity but too late for me as I signed both of my "youths" up to it when it was €10/month for 1st 6 months. A fiver/month is a no-brainer.

WARNING - Signing up for this will tie you into another 12 months contract on your TV and broadband.

You sure about that? When I was going to sign for the Black Friday you didn't opt in to another 12 month contract.

Luckily I just "negotiated" 6 months half price yesterday, so I'm tied in for 12 months anyway. Thanks OP, only finished the Three 20 euro AYCE data, this seems much better, including unlimited calls to any mobile.

I could not get texts from permanent TSB when I was with them.

Currently with them a few months, wondering if anyone has tried cancelling to get the same deal. Wondering how it would work.

This is another piggybacking on three network so expect to experience the same problems three, o2 and Tesco customers get: dropping out of coverage, missed calls etc.

as per this thread, it's not just PTSB - there are a whole bunch of SMS services that don't work with Virgin Mobile.

No mention of it when I signed up and i am billed separately for both.

Just onto to meteor to give notice(only back with them over a month), trying to scare me with contracts renewal(like most i resigned at half price about a month ago over their T&C issues)

Turns out you dont have to give notice, only going from Meteor bill to PAYG, clowns in customer care misinforming people

Ill be going back in five months anyway

I signed up with them just before Xmas. It doesn't extend the bb&tv contract, they're separate now.

Good to hear that, it certainly wasn't the case earlier last year.

Looking at the terms just says you need to be a current VM tv or broadband customers. Was definitely 12 months in the past.

The 4G is good, but may find roaming issues to edge network at times.
Dont do MMS but not such an issue anymore with whatsapp etc.

The bigger annoyance is lack of shortcode sms. They have added some now but a lot still don't work for competitions or 2FA etc.

Anyone know how many members of one house can sign up for this offer?

Max of two I believe. All phones go on the same bill too, can't split them out.

Would really be interested but concerned about what coverage and service is like. I'm with Eir mobile atm. Anyone know how this network compares to Eir ?

I had just signed up for a 9 months half price after their tiny price increase voided my previous contract :p

So signing up again didn't bother me :p

And when my discount was just about up they fooked up again by not having informed me of my new contract by email, so I negotiated another 6 months half price :p

Good to know it's now separate from the BB/Phone/TV contract. They do seem to get desperate to get new customers. That's great. Lower prices.

One question. Is this offer available to you or another family member if someone in your household has already availed of it before? Couldn't find the answer to that one.

you are allowed to have two different phones for one account.
if you availed of this offer once before, you can now get another one to make it two. you cant have more than two

uses three network so whatever coverage three has in your area it will be the same

It’s a great time to be a consumer with rolling contracts jumping from provider to provider as the deals pop up

Funny when meteor went on hold for ages (to google it) then come back with scare tactics about contracts and fumbling saying we can match it for €10 no sorry €20

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 973 ✭✭✭swampy353

Have to say that when I was vm, their coverage was brilliant, far better than id or meteor. Moved away because I got a company phone, other than that I would still be with them

I'm on Three atm, so this shouldn't be any worse... although I find I rarely use data on my mobile, because I cannot use ad block the way I can over wifi.

New SIM will be delivered today apparently, they sure move fast...
