Sure I'll give it a go! I don't drink a huge amount but I could do without the expense, it's a long way to pay day!!

Day 1 - successful so far...

Day 1 - starting to struggle now -_-

    What's the event?

I'm doing a triathlon in June, a half marathon in July, possibly another Tri in August, and hopefully a full marathon in October :/

    Ouch.

Or you could drink everything in sight for the next 5 minutes. It doesn't count as long as you drink it this side of New Year!

I've been sober for eight months. One more month won't kill me, and out of lack of choice (kinda), I'm in too.

    Just a powerlifting debut.

But it will no doubt precede some running or rowing event.

    I'm in.

I want to run a half marathon in a few months and possibly a full one in October. I just want to be fitter/healthier in general.

If I can do a 10k before the summer I'd be delighted! Best of luck with the marathons :)

Not much of a drinker but it might force me to become a bit more inventive than "Scoops?"

The only running I'll be doing is to the fridge to get some party food. Fair play to the fit folk.

Hope it works out for you.

    Dry January for me too.

57k Quest Glendalough training starts properly this month so can't afford to be as hungover as I was pretty much every weekend in 2016. Good luck all!

Anyone with a problem join AA and do the steps with a knowledgeable sponsor. Though the vast majority of people with a drink problem much prefer to drink themselves to death rather than get sober and grow spiritually such is the extent alcoholism warps their mind.

Personally wouldnt give up sobriety for €20,000 so dry January for me!

Yep, I'll be dry till 16 of march, have a stone to lose and just want to stop drinking. Have given up the drink every January for past 3 years, but other than that we'll sit down each night with a bottle of wine and a wee dram.....Just such a habit, thankfully himself will be doing it also, he also has 1-1.5 stone to lose. Sons confirmation on 16!!

Probably, never thought the day would come but I don't enjoy it much anymore.

My liver, my scales, and my bank balance have suggested that I try a dry January.

I'm perfectly capable of not drinking, I just happen to love a nice wine or drop of whiskey!

I spent a good chunk of last year on the dry but made up for it in 2016 so think it's time for a break.

Anyone else giving it a go?

I'll do it with you brother - 3 months sober, let's go!
