Strange, but I thought that the terms"rat" and "ratting" died off after 1st year in secondary school. I haven't heard it been used in years. Looks like some people haven't grown up yet. :/

Yes I agree, I thought it was a thing from school but nope, not here.

    Tries that before.

    Gardai wanted my;

    Address
    D.O.B
    Phone number

A statement in the event of a prosecution.

Never rang it. Has anyone here?
There was controversy regarding that not being manned either.

If these guys are informers, they will have a fair bit of immunity for small stuff where Garda discretion will be used.

    My point exactly!

That's all necessary if you are reporting dangerous driving and could be called as a witness. If there are cars with no NCT or tax the gardai can verify that themselves

    Is this official policy?

There's been 2 fatal crashes there in recent years on the N25 as a result of people going the wrong way.

Yup. I have been on a motorway and had an elderly person drive past me on the wrong side. But sure its us young males that are causing all the issues....

Remember Jim McDaid done it one time when he was completely p1ssed,
An artic had to block the road to stop him.

Junctions on dual carriageways that have non standard set up, seen to be an issue.

Little island junction on N25 and junction at mary mont hospice on n25 come to mind.

The little island junction needs to be redesigned to account for the blind /stupid/elderly/drunk drivers.

And unfortunately, the junction on the n25 near marymount hospice attracts a lot of elderly drivers.

I think I saw one or two saying "wrong way, turn back" sometimes even accompanied with flashing red lights.

The flashing lights are in Northern Ireland at every motorway junction.

If I'm reading correctly, the man who died yesterday drive the correct way onto the motorway before doing a U turn in the carraigeway near the toll plaza. No amount of signs can fix that.

I've stopped a car doing exactly that good few months ago.

Cars in front hadn't seen him where I could see lights shining on the centre of carriageway and thought that don't look right.

I then copped it was a car in outside lane barreling right at us.

I weaved around to warn cars behind and also managed to get him stopped against crash bar.

He eventually done a u turn and drove off.

Speeds were 120k and some were going more.

    Scary isn't the word.

Why would van driver drive into him
There is a trend out there with some drivers that if they are in right if gives them permission crash into car in wrong.
If someone runs into road , I don't thing to myself, boot down take him out, what the hell is he running into road for.
Some people drive like this, they don't brake they don't avoid, they just observe and think what the hell is he doing.

It can be too late with car travelling at speed sun in your eyes etc etc. There are so many factors and every crash is different no two are the same.

Just have to be vigilant and eyes wide open while driving.

I passed this crash about a minute after it happened yesterday...before the emergency services arrived. It was not a pretty sight and this post if just down right stupid. Do you really think the van driver just drove into him?

He panicked when he saw the toll booth

Must have figured he was going the wrong way or might not have had any money to pay

    Poor man

Well I'm sorry it has to be the stupidest thing one could do.

Pull in at the side drive to booth with attendant he wouldn't be the 1st to arrive at a booth without cash or a card. They can take reg and name.

Someone's been watching too much russian car crashes on YT:pac:

He was a "top class farmer" though.

I know that's a bit disrespectful but that stuff annoys me. There's a man lucky not to be dead because of this old man's actions.

What is the scenario if you approach with no cash or card? I've never heard of it happening.
