    FucI< da GARDA" ?

Be interesting to know was the tax 2 months out of date.

He probably said "come ere boy on me mams life your not taking me car,why dontcha gway and catch the real criminals "

I know that spot well, shooting fish in a barrel, you have 0% chance of getting away as it's a one way system there around a blind bend.

A few more up on that feed last night seized for no insurance. The mind boggles at the amount of people thinking it's ok to drive uninsured.

It's probably not that they think it's OK, it's just that they're struggling to make ends meet.

    This too shall pass.

You are basing this on what evidence?

It would have to be at least that, otherwise they can't seize.

Usually they post photos of it, not on this occasion however.

A family i know of have 3 cars, not one of them has tax/insurance/NCT.

They drive around with not a care in the world, and don't get caught oddly.

If it was me I'd probably get caught.

And yes the full sky package is intact.

If it was me i'd be tipping someone off, my insurance premium has been rising rather down going down the last few years.

Just the sort of people that you want to risk being involved in a collision with. Will be extra fun being compensated at €0.20 a week after the stress of a court case.

The cars will be seized and they'll be back on the road in something else in hours. Money is no issue there.

Then report the new cars too

In my part of the country the people that do that are called 'rats'

People who 'rat' on others are always targeted here.

I keep my head down and my mouth shut.

I don't want hassle for my kids as they go to the same school as the kids in that family.

These people have cops at their door at least once a month.

It is believed they are alleged informers for the Gardaí.

There are lots of ways to submit information anonymously. If you know they have no tax/insurance/NCT, you can bet many other people in the community know.

It amazes me that people are complaining about it but yet refuse to report the ones they know are breaking the law.
Surely to god with the amount of premiums people have to suffer cause of it then you'd want the bastards off the roads.
Cars seized, buy new cars then report those too.
Keep doing it until they stop.

There is no clean and quick way of solving this problem when insurance premia for younger drivers are several thousand euro and cars can be had for less than 1 thousand euro..... for many people you can have 3 or 4 cars a year on the road for the annual cost of their quoted insurance.

The government need to to be able to access ALL the non compliant persons assets to recover all insurance costs rather than just seizing the car caught with the driver on the day.

Rubbishy nearly scrapped cars can be had for around €300 and insurance can be €4000 for under 25's.......guess what I'd be doing.

When the fines for driving without insurance are rarely over €500 there is no deterrent, it's unlikely anyone could get insurance now for less than €500 a year.

I think these cars should go straight to auction with proceeds going direct to MIBI, sometimes there's some good motors not insured that would make decent money.

Had to edit my post, it was actually yesterday, I made a typo error. I agree with you on that one. It's the balls of scrap for €50-€100 are the worst ones, a prison sentence needs to become mandatory as well as never getting the car back, the UK do it but as usual we are lagging behind.

Strange, but I thought that the terms"rat" and "ratting" died off after 1st year in secondary school. I haven't heard it been used in years. Looks like some people haven't grown up yet. :/

I've seen people's children bullied, their windows smashed in their house, their cars burned out, physically assaulted. Never worth the hassle.
