Missing statue near Sligo Wine Street Post Office

I haven't been in Sligo for years and I'm unlikely to be up that way in the near future so I wonder if anybody can help. I'm researching statues/monuments that have disappeared, for whatever reason, and the 1940s postcard below caught my attention.

Who was the statue of and where is it now? Couldn't see it on Google Street View and even the street names seem to have changed, but the Post Office remains. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for that! The postcard had me off on the wrong track altogether.

You don't happen to know of any Sligo monuments that were 'removed' unofficially.

None that I'm aware of. The few monuments we have are generally relative to nationalism.

Hi

Further to others, the statue is now located around the corner from the location in picture and now resides in Quay street.

its located beside the town hall on right.

The railings around the Lady Eireann Statue in Castle / Grattan street have been removed many years ago

I'm sure you have researched the QueenVictoria and Anna Livia statues in Dublin?

There should be a little memorial including an old picture of where the statue use to be. It would be nice for visitors to explore what Sligo was like back in its hayday!
