I hate the alloys and I hate the black tinted windows, talk about destroying it with the easiest pieces of work to do, just leave them as original as possible.

Yeah I was expecting to see an Eastern European bodybuilder climbing out of it with the wheels and tinted windows.

I think the $15,000 for the parts seemed very staged - to me it looked like there was a lot of haggling off-screen and then the deal at the end. Not really much different to the Bronco where there was a perfect "spare" body available. Getting more and more peed off at the US version :(

Of course it was staged and the haggling was done off screen. I also doubt the original call was made my Mike, or by video chat. That's TV for you. I'm also pretty sure that Ed China doesn't get everything right in the first take and that there are teams of people researching every car he works on, so he can do his on screen talk....and that's not to say that the guy isn't smart and well up on his mechanical knowledge, but he doesn't know everything that gets spouted on screen.

Once the off screen stuff is done, it's then recorded and edited and we see the end result. After all, there is far more profit in the show than in the cars. At least they now list man hours taken, which is reasonable enough for a decent mechanic I reckon. If people could just accept all that and stop talking about staged stuff, I think the show would be much more enjoyable for everyone to watch.

I was pleasantly surprised by the AMG tribute actually. I thought it was going to be a boring "put it back together" job, but it turned out pretty well, even if the wheels were a bit mad and the tints weren't to the taste of the crowd.

The wheels look like the stock wheels for that AMG.
Google image search for SEC 500 AMG has those alloys & window tints on the majority of them.

Bit cheeky not buying an engine off him but looking for a sticker for the one he was going to buy.

I missed the very start. What are the "political reasons" the original engine was deliberately rubbish?

    I didn't hear that bit.

US government were threatening to clamp down on car safety issues after Ralph Naders book

Car looked perfection before the stripes. Love the wheels.

They actually look ok now when it's finished

All noise no speed. Sounds like a car with a slipping clutch, all rev but car does not pick up speed.

Wheels spinning from lack of traction.

I really preferred it when it was a UK based show.
I can't stand knowing which car they are going to buy and the jobs they will be doing to it during the opening credits. Ruins any sort of surprise during the episode.
Wish they'd go back to the normal version.

Currently watching the episode featuring a 1977 Honda CVCC.

    Interesting motor and very economical.

Shocked that Brewer is actually doing Edd's job at times.

Gave up on this series 1-2 episodes in. Anyone follow Brewer on twitter? Nothing but paid for click-bait posts....

Think the should go back to the original idea - wide-boy wheeler dealer buying car on a budget, source cheap or second hand parts where required and then sell it on. And let the grease monkey do what we all watch the show for - fix the car!

Think Mike is just jealous that most of the attention is on Edd - real kiddie temper tantrum stuff.....throws a wobbler and then mummy says Ok, you can play with the toys too. It's just making the show unwatchable for me

Hadn't realised there were some new episodes on again, last week and tomorrow. I'm going to guess them doing a Humvee won't be popular. Tomorrow is an electric Maserati.

I enjoyed the humvee it was a decent episode I like the idea of buying one from armed forces and turning it into a bit of a camper.
