Silencing the people is easy. You flood the media with fake stories until the people have no idea whats real and what isnt.

Silencing has absolutely nothing to do with fake news IMO but more to do with bullying, insults and the attempted shaming of those one doesn't agree with.

A lot of people have had enough of this abuse and it doesn't have the same affect as it did 12 months ago.

I know I got fed up with "libtard" and some bollocks about safe spaces, yeah. Any time one tries to point out that X or Y is hurtful, damaging or just plain lazily cruel, some idiot comes out with pretty vicious bile. Admittedly, it is all pretty unoriginal. Oh, there's "ISIS sympathiser", to be used on anyone who doesn't agree that all Muslims should be thrown out. And anyone that disagrees about anything is obviously gay for ..reasons.

oh, and "cuck". I do rather suspect that half the people that use these terms only have a very loose idea of what they mean.

Michael Moore suggested that Trump might not make it to Jan 20th. He has encouraged riots and violence at every turn.

On the bright side Trump will soon have access to the @POTUS twitter account. More shenanigans possibly ahead.

I am surprised that guy hasn't been brought in for questioning yet by the police. He basically encouraged rioting which could easily kill a police officer. It is like he can't let it go, I heard him say Trump has no right to being in the White House. What is he? A fascist moron? Trump was elected as he picked up the most Electoral college votes.

Judging by the reactions to his election victory, the Donald's presidency is going to be the the most besieged one in the 21st century so far.
I don't remember George W. Bush's election win having such a hostile reception from the press and democrat supporters compared to the response Trump has had. From Jill Stein's recount request to the "muh Putin" narrative to the protesters. They really don't want him in charge. And they will still be doing everything they can to undermine his term in office in 2017 and beyond.

2016 has been quite a year and I'll be looking forward to to see what's in store for 2017.

Only because he destroyed them all and humiliated the left in America infront of the whole world. Trump is too good for them, too media savvy, too quick, knows how to change the narrative. A great strategist, they struggled to combat against him on social media, effectively lost a large amount of voters for Hillary because of it.

His campaign was utter genius, he is a reality TV star and has become the most Powerful man in the world, arguably.

Trump insinuated that maybe people should shoot Hillary.

    Don't like it ? ;)
It's telling that the Trump fans in here are more interested in getting one over 'the left' than actually discussing policies or the things he says.

Baby Hands himself incited violence, too.

The Buffoon complained about the Electoral College in 2012, but now he thinks it's a great idea.

Anyway, when Moore said Baby Hands might not make it to Jan 20 he was suggesting that he might be impeached or disqualified.

What we might see as sensible regulation would be seen by trump's cabinet as government interference. I wouldn't hold my breath for him to imposed reasonable regulation.

Does that mean we're lauding Obama then? Or are juat the job cuts down to him? What about the drop in unemployment from 7+% to it's current level? So was Obama a great president now if it's only about job cuts and the economy?

I don't know why but people who are clearly intelligent repeating Trump's self serving claims really gets to me.

Not allowed if you're a Trump follower. The ignorant are his best supporters - said so himself.

And the discussion here, is orders of magnitude what's out there on FB, or the main news sites that allow comments. Seems like CNBC dropped that facility, I guess they got tired of being hectored about Kudlow and his ties to the campaign while they still ran his articles :)

It's hard not to be bleak right now, but I suppose 'tomorrow is another day.' The sad cases here, the anti-semitism and CT spew, have their man with his fingers on the football now. I'm so glad not to be in the USA anymore.

No, it's clearly down to Trump that for example spending has been up for the last 8 years (something he also thanked himself for) and that jobs have been increasing for years now.

The man is such a genius that he did all of this before he even decided to run for president.

Truly the greatest man in the history of the world.

However, maybe he is getting a bit senile in his old age but those jobs were announced over a year ago:
    https://twitter.com/TonyRomm/status/814260720443490304
"Sprint confirms to me (Tony Romm) what we suspected: the "5,000 jobs announced today are part of the 50,000 jobs that Masa previously announced"
OneWeb, a startup that is developing small satellites, announced earlier this month that it would create 3,000 engineering, manufacturing and support jobs, thanks largely to a $1 billion investment by SoftBank to build a facility in Florida."

I'm not going to call Trump supporters stupid. However, I do think he has tapped into a groundswell of not wanting to think independently or critically. The Reality TV audience. Most of what Trump claims can be investigated quickly, yet people don't do it.

I think Trump thought he was a contestant in the biggest Reality TV competition ever. I don't think he grasped the enormity of what he had won until it was way too late

Obviously all of this fact checking and everything but why bother??

    Everyone KNOWS this.

Massive companies don't decide to employ thousands of people and open new plants on a whim or a great conversation with a president or president elect. This stuff has significant planning behind it, layers of feasibility studies, layers or approval, shareholder meetings and so on and so forth.

Just the same as if some company said 'we're pulling out of the US because of Trump' you'd know it was on the cards anyway.

Hank Scorpio KNEW all of this and he posted anyway.

It's not that mistruths are put forward by someone. It's that they're KNOWINGLY spread by others.

Hank is not stupid, he can think for himself. But like so many people on both sides of this debate, he doesn't seem to want to.

It's a pretty sad state of affairs to be honest.

I genuinely don't care what side of the debate people are on. Show a little independent thought and you have my respect.

So I take it we're going to have Trump fans in here all day praising Obama for his good work in securing those jobs, then? :pac:

Then again, with Obama it'll only be 5,000 more on top of the 11,500,000 (8,500,000 full time) that he's already created.

He's talking to people who don't understand computers. If you didn't understand computers, you'd know what he was talking about. It apart of his whole schtick about the word moving too FAST and some people can't keep up - another strand of the same thing can be seen when people delight in his anti PC attitude.

In short he's speaking mainly to the low information folks. Gotta keep'em sweet for 2020

The people who voted for him don't have any solid expectations for him. They need reasons to retroactively justify voting for him. So it's in their interest to parrot any success trump claims for himself.
    gosplan wrote:

To justify supporting him in the first place. Otherwise they'd have to admit to themselves and everyone else that they were fooled to vote for someone who talked ad nausium about what he was going to do, but as now said it was only campaign talk. They were connected and the psychological process of cognitive dissonance will make sure people feel positive when he claims a success.
    gosplan wrote:

Parroring whatever he says without critical analysis justifies a their decision to support him. It gives no incentive to analyse it.
Good man, call us stupid, it has worked so far.

This happens with every political battle. The difference is that trump's supporters don't have any actual expectations so they're more open to supporting whatever he does now. They already committed to support him, so now they have to actually supper him. His core demographic of low information voters are less likely to have enough prior knowledge to challenge whatever he says so it's more likely to be swallowed whole.
    Jelle1880 wrote:

Absolutely feelings before facts. The campaign was almost completely fact free and based in emotion. Hillary was full of facts but couldn't get people excited.

Reality TV audience indeed. As a group they're much more interested in the odd tweet about a feud with China or building more nukes , than actual political discussion. They aren't into politics but they are into reality TV, so he's giving them reality TV.

PS you don't have to call them stupid, you can say low information voters now.
