Other car is in the wrong. And you're going too fast to expect the unexpected.

This thread has a lot of Eamonn Dunphys in it.

I come here for the videos of people not indicating.

    I'm baffled.
No invoice, no mention of a seller or anything.
    Just the note I mentioned.
I never use Amazon and cam is around €75 to buy so I'm assuming it's a mistake.
Why did they say enjoy your gift though?
Seems an expensive gift to send someone out of the blue.
It's a nice cam though and quality of the front cam on the one I'm using already is great.
As good as my go pro I'd say.

    Madness, but great. Fair play

No invoice and a 'gift' note are how Amazon items are sent when someone buys something for delivery as a gift to someone else.
I suspect you've gotten someone else's intended Christmas present.

Or, someone you know knew you were thinking of this particular item and purchased it for you.

    That would make sense alright.
But would be a bit stupid that Amazon don't tell you who the gift is from?

It's a looooong time since I've either sent or received a gift through Amazon, but I think it's up to the sender to identify themselves or not on the note or other documentation in/on the package.
This may have been a surprise/mystery gift to someone that's gone astray.
Or it might genuinely be a surprise/mystery gift to you :D

I'm very much open to correction on how Amazon handle this stuff nowadays though.

I think we can rule out the gift from someone I know as it was delivered to my parcel wizard address, which no one else would know about.

I'm guessing, and this nothing more than a wild guess, that seller on eBay has a shop on Amazon and there was some mix up.

People are saying it's great I got an extra one but I have one already so not much use to me.

I'd have no problem sending it back if they are looking for it.

Could always raffle it off, 25 spaces at €2 a ticket. Think most people here would be happy enough with that and then you getting something out of it also.

Or just sell it on adverts!

Use it as a rear view cam.

Best not to do this, for the slim chance of getting in trouble, as it's illegal. There's also the option of setting it up as a backwards facing camera (Edit: too slow). How about giving it away as a prize to whoever caught the best footage of the year? :D

I'll hold on a while in case they are looking for it.

Yeah it could be a move where they wait and see what happens and bill you after a few days. At least if you have it then you can send it on back.

Is it not illegal to charge for unsolicited goods?

He ignored the horn and still moved left! must have been half asleep.
    Great pit manoeuvre though. :D

We all know who's at fault there, but surely the driver with the dashcam could have anticipated what was about the happen and reduced their speed. The signs were there indicator was on and that driver slowed slightly to cue their intention to turn into that lane.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,206 ✭✭✭Lucas Hood

That could have been a lot worse.

He slowed down because the truck further ahead was slowing down but he shouldn't have then continued to force his way in left while slowing down.
You do NOT slow down when changing lanes in front of another vehicle NEVER!
That is very bad driving by the rigid driver.

Possibly it was selected from your wish list on Amazon? If so, might mean someone could have bought it for you as a gift, thus linking to your pm address. Possibly unlikely but could explain it.

I'll buy it off you if you want to let it go on the cheap ;)

Road markings appear to indicate otherwise, or did that car come from the wrong direction

It came down a one way street the wrong way before turning left.

    Got a dashcam for Christmas.
Got this today. Not the first time I've seen this here.
