Best tune and video...

...we all have a favourite track, or possibly many, and a favourite video, or again possibly many. But what was the best example of both arts combined? Say you had to award 5 marks to the song itself, and 5 for the video?

Oh and it has to be a top 40 hit. Otherwise I'd go for Plaid "Itsu" or LFO "Freak" and it'd get too obscure.

I'll start with a catchy No. 1 that put Shaun Ryder and his teeth front and centre of a rather strange video...

Think the video beats the song. Not sure I'd listen to it on its own too often...but WHAT a video! Similar to their "Intergalactic" in that regard, eminently watchable.

Probably considered a bit cheesy now and im sure they are not the best videos but I always liked a lot of The Pet Shop Boys videos.

This one, I think was also a Christmas no.1

I liked the one with Dusty Springfield too.

Actually, hard to beat that alright. I'd give the track itself a 4 out of 5, but the video is just flawless. The opening scene of the official and sanitised version, where he pulls up, gets out and dances with the umbrella in the setting sun in LA is a work of art.

One by Metallica. Based on the novel and film Johnny Got His Gun by Dalton Trumbo. Great film - there was a 2008 remake but still haven't seen it.

My dad, although he was not a fan of Metallica, would always stop and watch that video and tell me the story of it. Must take the time myself to watch the movie or read the book.
