    Plenty. And some far worse.

The reaper was a bit busy in the early 1940's.

A legend in his own right. RIP Georgie, hope you're singing away up there.

2016 has been a fantastic year, Brexit, Trump. The celebrities who have passed have been highly overrated. The only celebrity who died this year who was a true genius was Johan Cruyff.

I think if you read between the lines and his declining health the last few years you'll know what happened.

Not totally true. Music has such an appeal and carries memories. Sometimes you can give a **** when someone you don't know dies.

Shocked to hear this. Sky news saying he passed away peacefully. Guess he was in poor health.

    Rip.

What like AIDS? I would have thought it was well able to be controlled these days

    Ffs 2016

Wham had a few catchy tunes and he had a good solo career too

Bit ironic that he wrote one of the most popular Xmas songs of all time and he passed away on Xmas day

Rip George Another iconic artist gone

Careful now, the 'isn't 2016 the worst ever?' brigade will want her hung drawn and quartered.

Well thankfully music doesn't die. Might spin a few wham tracks later when I'm drunk, my favourite is "Everything she wants".

I like the way he got nabbed allegedly cottaging and carted off and his next his video had loads of gay lads dressed up in police uniforms.

He was a great character, and actually extremely talented too which sometimes gets forgotten with all the shenanigans he got up to.

FFS! It's still hard to believe Alan Rickman (Hans Gruber) died last January and now another Christmas icon is gone. RIP George.

He was a great talent. I really liked his mid '90's stuff. Fastlove is still a cracking tune.

You can be great but not a genius. Cruyff was a genius.

Not sure why you called him a dick. It was George Michael himself who parodied the incident in the video for outside. Seems he had a sense of humour about it.

He did the same in extras

    Indeed, it's called being human.

Last Christmas and Fairytale of New York are probably the two iconic Xmas songs of recent decades, hard to believe Shane McGowan is the only survivor between George Michael, Kirsty McColl, and Shane!

I very much disagree. George Michael will have had a massive impact on many people. His carefree out and proud attitude will have helped a lot of people come to terms with their own sexuality. I'm sure many people will be upset by his passing for this reason alone, never mind any other impact he has had.

I was a bit ambivalent about his music but he could certainly give a great performance. RIP.

    Great artist and singer.

Still, we should also remember on this day of those who have lost their parent, sibling, loved one and friend.... and so on.

Sadly George will be forgotten in a few weeks, but our own won't.

    Anyway,

I thought he was GREAT! Rest in peace Georgie Boy.

I've got Elton John, Jackson Browne and Phil Collins all on my to see list next year and at this rate, I wouldn't be surprised if one of them crokes at some point between now and Saturday.

    His self parodies were legendary
