Very sad. He hasn't been well for a while after he started drinking again.

Sad news. Down Down and What You're Proposing two of my best ever so called guilty pleasures.

Going to bash out a couple of power chords on the telecaster in his memory

Rick had officially retired from Status Quo in recent years due to heart problems. Its still a shock though.

Sad news about Rick. I think he has fairly young children it'll be very tough for them. May he Rest In Peace.

This is a bit weird after the "status quo" (generic whinge about Ireland) thread yesterday which people jokingly took to be about The Quo.

Pictures Of Matchstick Men is one of my all time favourite songs - an early single when they were psychedelia flavoured - then they said "Bollox to that" and went full-on pub rock. :D

Utterly brilliant song. Props to You're In The Army Now also (although that's a cover).

R.I.P. Rick - early age to go these days.

Ah bollox. Was a massive quo fan when I was like 10 or so. Lots of happy memories of quo songs

Quo gave fans good value for their money. Head banging rocknroll with no frills or gimmicks.
Sad for his young children and all his family and for Francis Rossi who mucked about with him for 50+ years. RIP.

I could be wrong on this but I think Quo were one of the last bands to emerge from the '60s to have all their original members still living.

    Till now of course.

RIP Rick. You & the band have left us some great music.

Damn it. Was some man for continuing on touring despite so many health set backs. As I said on the Gigs thread in the summer, he could easily be forgiven for hanging up the guitar for a more sedate life many many years ago, but didn't.

Only seen them once, on the In The Army Now tour back in the late 80's.. was a great gig.

    Rest in peace.

    RIP.

Its been a real 'ch-ch-ch-changing' of the guard year (apologies for the Bowie reference).

    Les Battersby will be devastated.

Great first time concert experience for a ten year old
