Would barely have enough to get me through two weeks (boxers etc)..............

Seems as you only shower every few days I'd have thought you'd get 2 weeks out of a pair of boxers.

Volunteering in Africa we hand washed our own clothes as the locals did. I miss the smell of laundry soap. :O

I suspect there is an element of empty nest syndrome for these mammies who are still willing to wash their grown childrens' pants.

What ever about the washing.... the ironing! I'd happily pay someone to do that... I hate it more than anything.

Washing clothes is the easy part, its getting them dry in our climate that is the difficulty.

That is pathetic. The mothers are worse for indulging it.

As a woman in her 30's i would run a mile from a guy who did something like this.

2 or 3 days yes but obvioulsy no longer. I could easily get through 2 weeks without doing washing but I'd rather have the stuff washed and have the choice of what to wear over the christmas with lots if nights out etc. Also who wants to land back in Jan with a heap of washing rather than arrive back with everything washed.

I've used the iron once in the last 4 months :pac:. I either don't iron stuff, someone else does it for me or for shirts I bring them to the cleaners for ironing.

I know, I've never done a wash for my hubs in the five years of our relationship. And I just think everyone knows their own washing best anyway. He knows what he wants to do with it. I do often iron his work shirts for him but he drives me around the place. Gotta show graditude somehow! :pac:

Very inefficient washing. Everything mixed in togeather makes the most sense. As for men washing well my generation is (unfortunately) the first for men doing washing. Men in my fathers generation never did washing in his entire life, that was woman's work

Cooking is an unfortunate necessity (well a few days a week anyway, there is takeaway for the other days) but cleaning is easily avoided, i just pay a cleaner to do it ;). It's only the price of a few pints per month and well worth it.

I'm sure it is if you're rocking the mucksavage uniform of bootcut Wrangler jeans, a striped shirt and a mottled cotton jumper.

Separating whites from colours, hand washing wool, and knowing that you probably shouldn't put in your delicate silk boxers on a 90 degree wash alongside tea towels is fairly basic stuff

90 degree wash? 30 degree quick wash is the only thing ever used in my house.

90 degrees is just burning money.

What? Do people actually use hotter washes? If so why? If I do washing of any sort I do the same as my mother has always done. 30 degree quick wash. Everything is clean why would you do any different? I've see house mates use other washes and they take an age, waste of time money imo.

Aside from that 95% of my clothes say they should only be washed at 30 degrees.

Did you ever think to google it? Why do you think there are other options on a washing machine?

For fools who like wasting time and money?

Why would I google it, never had my stuff washed at home or did it myself at more than 30 degrees and it's always been perfect.

I know. I use the 30degree wash for most of my clothes. However to say 30 degrees is perfect for everything without actually knowing why there are other settings seemes stupid

I'm not going to exaggerate but honest to god even thinking about how you live makes me feel itchy. Do you honestly think your clothes are clean after wearing them for so long they're fermenting, then tossing them all (not separated) into a 30 degree quick wash? If you're changing your bed sheets every few months if question question even a 90degree wash would leave them clean enough to reuse never mind 30. Normal people do not live like this nox. It's not normal to live on a diet of takeaway and Guinness and change your jocks every three days. It's not the norm to have a fear of regular showers, you're
Not going to disintegrate if you're more frequent with your personal hygiene.
It's not women's work to run around after you like Kim and Aggie. You're old enough to be able to live like a human being and not a wild animal.

    Very inefficient washing.

Can you explain how each of us putting on FULL loads of our own clothes is inefficient?

And the woman's work thing is nonsense. All that is needed to do washing is a pair of working hands. I didn't realise men didn't have those!

Usually you will have things that can't be washed togeather, as do other people so combining the wash means you do these in one wash rather than two.

Also it's just the way we do things, all washing goes into a pile beside the machine and a two days or so later is left neatly hanging in my room.

I've seen one or two house mates over the years using hotter washing but the majority of people I've seen (mother, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, gf etc) use 30 degree wash for everything it was always surprising (and annoying for the use of electricity) for me to see a housemate using a hot wash as to me it makes no sense and ruins clothes.

As for the rest of your post. Haters gonna hate, I'm happy out so don't really care. I pity people really who are slaves to the conditioning they have received about things like "if you don't shower every single day you smell" and other such nonsense.
