The woman currently on doing the Tv/movie reviews is incredibly annoying

Heard her yesterday. Why does she feel the need to imitate Dave Fanning. She is not funny either. Morons

Is Denis O'Brien going out of his way to really destroy the station? I know it has never been a big money maker, and they have Today FM in the same building (much of their content that made them different to 2 FM (in their pomp) was been stripped away) and I know Ivan and Hookie could not go on forever, but the new lines ups are a disaster

Why is there so so so much repetition. Hook always did a movie review on his old show with an actual movie critic (who also has his own show) and he still contributes to High Noon (great name) . Moncrieff also does the much loved Movie and Booze and Friday. So why the need for a movie review on Drive with those clowns? Same with rugby; apparently it is the only sport in Ireland according to the media. Lengthy reference to it in the morning, and OTB has at least 3 separate half hour slots a week... and the discussion is repeated in Hook's show etc.

Listened to it yesterday for 10 mins and had to turn it off as it was brutal. Like a breakfast show run by students. One of the guys was just afraid of contradicting anything the woman said or even having his own opinion.

Yer man Paul Williams in the morning is terrible really

Heard Sarah McInerney doing a very embarrassing interview with someone who was 'apparently' the Russian Ambassador to Ireland. She was completely disrespectful - not that I have any great love for the Russians - but I can't imagine that she would have behaved in the same way with US ambassador. Anyway, I'm not sure that somebody wasn't having her on as the 'ambassador' sounded drunk and was possibly one of his bodyguards or perhaps the embassy gardener. :D

Would it be at all possible that radio presenters could learn the difference between moot and mute?

This says more about the producers, journos etc, who plan the shows.

    Perhaps.

Radio delivery is too high pitched for this listener.

Like that Greens guy, Ryan, wears on you after a few minutes.

I'm struggling whit this show. 2 light weights and she can be condescending she made some childish sneer about brexit the other day. I'm flicking around the dial now between 5 and 6 it use to be locked onot the right hook. Our and BTW the texts are flooding in on this...... yeah I bet wishful thinking.

Ian Guider no longer works for Newstalk (Vincent Wall replaced him as NT Business Editor). Ian is currently employed as the Markets Editor at The Sunday Business Post.

Good. He's the reason I stopped listening to Newstslk. Maybe I'll go back now. His diction is horrific.

She's living in a hotel room... Has four kids and one on the way... Would Henry not be better asking whether it was a good idea having more kids instead of "getting emotional"?

"Me young lad is a bit obese cos we have no access to good food"

    Really?

Henry's response was just pathetic.. It's people like him who enable, instead of asking some hard questions.

They already have the presenters.. Just need to rejig the timetable.

    Ian Guider 6-9
Shane Coleman (no need for the Ivan impersonator) 9-12
    Johnathan Healy 12-3
    Sean Moncrief 3-6
    Off the ball 6-9
    Tom Dunne 9-12
    Thru the night 12-6

No room for hook or transition year students.

Johnathon Healy has turned into a younger version of Joe Duffy. Continually doing pieces with faux concern for the person on the line "oh my Mary, that must have been terrible". He filled in for Pat Kenny last week and it really illustrated that Kenny is light years ahead as a broadcaster. Able to float from Politics, to Isis to how to insulate your attic with ease while Johnathon would be lining up some old poor dear with a terrible tale to tell. Its slit your wrists broadcasting.

Something about how Sarah said "Spare a thought for these people Henry McKean went to visit" made me laugh there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,351 ✭✭✭limnam

How do you know you're bad. When the HOUSING minister can run rings around you. Christ Sarah McInerney is so unprepared for most interviews it's embarrassing.

I'm off to Today FM and I _hate_ Today FM.

I heard that.It was actually funny as it genuinely seems like she didn't realise what she said until she said it. I'd say Chris was Scarlet!

    HUH

She sounds like a 16yr old tomboy who lost her mother in Tesco.

I don't listen to Newstalk fortunately but I flicked over the other day to hear them reading out a flood of texts about how Michelle Obama is 'unqualified' to be POTUS. She responded that Donald Trump was elected. And could also have highlighted the contrast of Hilary Clinton being criticised for being part of the 'establishment' and a 'career politician'. My point being, if this is the typical view of much of her listenership, then it's not at all surprising that she comes in for some criticism.

Yep. I'm gonna say it again, this show is far stronger than The Right Hook.

If you mean Hook's new "High Noon" show I would agree, but that's setting the bar very low.
