The most uncomfortable you've ever been

A toss-up between the "dissolving" gauze and stitches that didn't dissolve at all around my twig after circumcision having to be cut off without any anaesthetic when I was 12 or getting dry socket while having a root canal done. Jesus. H. Christ I just wanted to rip my jaw off. Couldn't even inhale air without a pain resembling a bolt of electricity coursing through my head.

Got my 4 wisdom teeth removed a few years ago in hospitial. I was fairly ok for the first day or so after having them removed. I then developed an infection + the pain was unreal even when I was dosed up on very strong painkillers. Even childbirth wasn't as bad as that pain!

Dry socket after a tooth extraction for me too in terms of physical discomfort.

Being present when a couple had their cheating exposed and broke up (with me the only other person in the room) was pretty uncomfortable though. It didn't even calm down long enough for me to get the hell out of there until it was all over.

The headaches after a spinal tap. I moved after two days and it resulted in my lying in the foetal position in the back of a car practically in tears.

Avoid contact with meningitis outbreaks is my advice.

A "hot" tooth.

Bad abscess on a molar that was too volatile to begin treatment on.

Had to wait 48 hours for meds to work on the infection.

Also my jaw clenches in my sleep and it felt like a sledgehammer hitting the tooth every time I tried to nod off.

Really not fun.

Another dry socket story here, pain got so bad I spent 8 hours twisting in bed without any sleep and a pain in my face like someone was punching me every 2 minutes. Hard lesson learned that day, don't smoke cigs after an extraction.

Monarch airlines, six hour flight to Egypt.

Cheap charter affair. The tiniest seats you can imagine. Nobody north of 5ft 8inches could fit comfortably in those seats. I'm 6-2. My god damn legs merged with the seat ahead.

**** yeah i paid extra on the way back for 6 inches more legroom!

I used to think 28 hours of labour was tough until I got gallstones. I never experienced anything as painful as gallstones.

Oh yes I had several ambulance trips with this. Morphine became my best friend. Never ever will I forget that pain. I'd sooner have 10 kids with 28 hours of labour.

I had the septum in my nose corrected when I was sixteen. The surgery was grand as I was out cold. But when I was coming around I was sick as a dog. Apparently I had swallowed a **** load of blood and I felt rotten. They had to eventually give me an injection to stop me getting sick constantly.

I've got two.

1) a few years ago I noticed a small spot growing just behind my shoulder. Thought nothing of it and left it so that my body would take care of it instead.
Fast forward a couple of years and this spot is still there, wasn't causing any pain so wasn't really bothered. Stupid move.
Then comes January 2015.
Woke up during the night with blinding pain and my entire shoulder swollen.
Couldn't get an appointment quickly so I was an extra week of this excruciating pain.
Got to the hospital for the check up and they rushed me into surgery and I mean ****ing legged it.
I then had to endure about 1 hour of awake surgery whilst they opened up the spot which had grown amazingly big and scooped entire thing out.
Turns out a hair had grown under my skin and due to me doing nothing made it become so infected and inflamed creating a massive cyst that it risked bursting internally and all the infected blood entering my blood stream.

2) kidney stones... omg. It hit me during a canoeing trip one summer. I remember crying out of the pain. I think it lasted about 3/4 hours and the constant having to pee feeling was beyond torture.
Eventually I peed it out which when I felt it leave was even worse. But the moment it ended... wow.

Hunting a cow out of a milking parlour, she raised a rear leg and gave it to me in the upper thigh area with some force narrowly missing the crown jewels, that was fecking painful

A great technique with dentists is to always make sure they are male, once in the chair, grab their testicals, don't let go, look them in the eye and say, "We're not going to hurt each other, are we?"

Jesus the headaches are shocking!! I've been through childbirth, a mastectomy and a boob job this year- nothing like the pain of that!! Only time I've ever cried begging for pain relief.

:eek: you had surgery in your senses ? When you mean awake surgery do you mean not a general aneastetic? I'm assuming the shoulder was numbed.

Fully awake and aware.
They numbed it but it wouldn't take effect so they kept sticking the area with needles to put it sleep.
But it only numbed the upper layer and they needed to get to the root which was far down and that was done without any sort of pain relief.
I remember trembling and my face turned pure grey.
Wife said I couldn't talk and mumbled everything.
Remember also the blood rushing down my neck and the feeling I was going to vomit from the pain.

The 24-36 hrs before i needed to get an orchidectomy due to testicular torsion, went from mild discomfort to highly uncomfortable ti outright agony. That pain was only bettered by the epidural required before surgery, 2 dics/nurses were required to hold me hunched over to stop me squurming as i got it....horrible

It was also uncomfortable as hell having discussions about the whole process with my granny afterwards

It's a tie between flying back from tenerife with what could only be described as third degree burns. Only got burned the day before so it was a 4 hour Ryan air flight where every time there was turbulance it was like acid being thrown on my skin.

The other was walking home after an 8 hour tattoo session on my foot. Sheer agony.

In terms of pain, man so many. One that jumps to mind is when I was a teenager, got jumped walking home from school, got a right kicking and got my wallet nicked and stuff. My arm was twisted the wrong way, so painful I was literally crying. Lot of stuff going on at home at the time, so I thought it might just fix itself or whatever, so I waited all night, about 6pm till 7am the next morning before going to a parent with my ****ed arm and a few cuts that needed stitches. Painful as ****.

Pneumonia. Got a dose of it a few years ago. Started as a slight ache on one side of my back. Thought it was a pulled muscle. Slept on the opposite side that night only to wake up at about 3am in absolute agony. Thought my number was up. Still thought it was just a muscular problem until I noticed some blood in my phlegm. Funny enough, the recovery was pretty straight forward after the first day or so of taking medication. Glad I got it sorted before it spread to the other lung.

I once went to this salon for a few different treatments, she was a really young girl and was recommended to me for eyebrows but I booked in a wax with her too. So she's waxing away and she had me in a very intimate position, when she starts talking about women that don't bother waxing, and what her male friends say about an unwaxed bikini area. There was absolutely no filter at all. I have never in my life felt like dropping dead from embarrassment.

Physically uncomfortable would be once after I had an accident I was brought into surgery for an op, and was given a general anaesthetic, which took a while for me to come out of. They came along and gave me a local anaesthetic into my kneecap and I swear to god even though I wasn't properly awake I remember the tears rolling down my face. It was the worst pain ever, even worse than my smashed bones they had tried to fix.

When I was a kid I used to get nose bleeds (like 20 times a week if it was a dry summer, I'd wake up and I'd be stuck to the pillow in a massive pool of dried blood) a lot so they decided to cauterize the vein to stop it. I sat in the chair and with out saying anything the Doctor dipped a gauze in some liquid and proceeded to force it right up inside my nose. He had to hold my head in place because of my surprised struggling and it felt like he was trying to get the gauze right into the center of my skull. Horrible horrible sensation. Did the trick though, hardly ever have a nose bleed now.

Oh and there was the time I had to get wisdom teeth which had fused to the bone cut out of my jaw with an electric saw under a local anesthetic. He cut the teeth in four and then pulled each piece out with a pliars. I literally sang every song I could think of at the top of my lungs while the dentist worked away.

Oh and the kidney stone.
