Eh .. to be fair the Eagles have beaten the Vikings, Steelers and Atlanta at home. Hardly a walk in the park going to Philly, we're only the second team to win there this season.

Overall another solid display. I think we can win next week and after this weekend we will need to. Tampa Bay winning yesterday was a disaster for us.

I can't agree with you at all there TRDA. The Eagles have been awful for about a month now and are not a good team at the moment. I know we'd injuries too but they were missing a few key players yesterday too. They're on their 3rd RG and missing their OT yet for the most part, were easily able to handle our pressure. And I won't even mention the long snapper issue..!!!

We must have been watching 2 different games as I can't see how you can say it was a solid performance. The defence came up with a couple of plays when it counted but yet again they gave up so many yards and couldn't get off the field on 3rd (or 4th downs!). And a lot of them were 3rd and 7-8 or longer too. Far from solid!

I think the fact that Philly only scored 15 on offence was because of the Eagles ineptitude when it counted as opposed to great defence (closing out sack excluded). The time of possession stats says it all.

It wasn't just the yards/time though, it was the way they were opened up. There were times when Eagles receivers were catching the ball and there wasn't even a defender in sight. Their TEs were loving it. I don't know what the game plan is on defence.

The DBs are all over the place and cant even do basic stuff right like anticipating routes etc. depending on the down and distance. Breeland, Ianacho and Dunbar were all guilty of this.

Kerrigan is a God and without him I don't know where we'd be. There was one time when he had Wentz around the ankles for a good 4-5 seconds but where was the help? No one else was able to get to him and Wentz got off the pass for another 1st down.

Cam's going to destroy this defence next week.

Have you been watching Cam the last few weeks Jack? He has been terrible.

I am not saying our defence was good. But the overall performance, we got it done again.

Its going to be impossible to win with the defence giving up so much no doubt about that but our offence gives us chances. They changed things up offensively for once at the weekend. Gruden and the OC seem to be giving more looks to the likes of Jackson, Garcon which we need to do.

Look we both know our defence is pants. Norman and Kerrigan are the only top class players we have though so it's hardly surprising? Norman came up big on a couple of break ups yesterday again. And you can be sure he'll be all over this game next week.

I know Cam and the Panthers haven't been great but he's still a threat with this legs and with no pressure and the DL/LBs inability to finish off sacks etc., I can see him doing damage with the run.

He'll probably stay the hell away from Norman too so will be aiming to beat up on Breeland on the other side so hopefully they'll give him some extra protection (and keep Dunbar on the bench!).

As you said before, they need to feed Fat Rob which for a while they looked like they were going to do yesterday. Let's hope they put more emphasis on the run although that'll probably depend on the health of the OL.

I think they need to add Jones back to the match day squad. Have Rob fine but Jones is a playmaker. He can rip off TD runs, I know he has problems with ball security but that comes with the explosiveness in his game, hopefully he'll get better. I still think he should be an option, having him in two back sets would put the defence off kilter because he does have break away speed.

Also throw the F***in thing to Davis in the end zone.

I think Mack Brown is in the concussion protocol after a hit yesterday so I'd say we might get Jones back next week.

Hopefully. Just looking at his stats for the season. Fumbles aside he was productive.

Biggest game of the season tonight .. So what do you think?

Ah you know me, always the pessimist expecting a loss..!!

I haven't a clue though to be honest. You just can't tell with this team. The offence should put up points. It's just whether the defence can get off the field on 3rd downs. I know Cam's having a bad year by his standards but he's still dangerous running and we need players other than RK to get into the backfield and take him down.

Hopefully Hopkins can get back to the way he was kicking the ball in the first 6 weeks too. It might come down to who has the ball last and he has to kick a FG to win it.

A narrow Redskins win with them holding on for dear life at the end is what I'm going to go with.

Man I dont want it to go like that a nice 35-13 blow out would be prefect. I dont think I can take the drama this year.

Cam is also nursing a sore shoulder. If the game gets away from them early they might rest him and put him on IR.

The extent of Cam and Keuchley's injuries might have a big say in the game alright. Panthers officially eliminated as of yesterday though so hopefully that takes a bit of motivation out of them.

It's a game we should win really but how we defend against Cam's legs would be my major worry.

Also how we control the game clock. I'd like to see more run and more over the center passes. Keep the ball moving and the clock ticking. Try to sustain drives and finish them off in the Red zone.

We're going to need to run the schedule to make the playoffs

Yeah, need to go 3-0 down the stretch. The Giants might rest a few in week 17 too but that's getting ahead of ourselves. Need to win tonight first!

As I said above, getting off the field is key for the defence but on offence, they really need to turn red zone visits into 7 points. If they do that we might be laughing.

I'd also like them to take the ball first if they win the toss. Make a statement on the opening drive and put up 7. Just like what Dallas and Arizona did to us.

Are you guys staying up? I'm not but I know I won't be able to sleep so will probably tune in at some stage during the game.

100% staying up. I am due to fly out to Washington on Thursday for the holidays. Was very close to changing our flights to yesterday so we could have got the game in but it was just too expensive! :D:D

Best time of the year for NFL. Almost every game is a playoff game for us!

Yep run game will be crucial alright. Expected to be -3 in FedEx Field tonight.

I'll be shovelling down coffees in an effort to stay up. Nodded off a bit during the Packers game when we were far enough ahead so hopefully I can afford a similar luxury tonight.

Redskins don't do stress free games so that Packers one was a bit of a surprise alright.

Even games that should be blowouts or where they're miles ahead, they always find some way of making us nervous at the end. Just win the thing 42-10 and let us all get a good night sleep!

Think I'm officially done with Dustin Hopkins. Always seems to bottle it in the Primetime games.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,687 ✭✭✭✭jack presley

Haven't seen any of the game but just saw the box score and they've 1 TD and 3 FGs? So same old red zone issues then?

Also what's the story with only 29 yards rushing, including 8 from Fat Rob on 9 carries...?????

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,961 ✭✭✭Morrison J

O-Line got killed in the run game, couldn't get anything going.

Most typical Skins Primetime performance ever. ****ing hell we were bad. Season as good as over bar a miracle.

Strangely the offense was the main problem though. Defense wasn't great but kept us in it for the most part. Cousins had his worst game since week 1.

1-16 at home now in MNF games since 1998.

Still haven't seen any of the game but listened to the post game show on ESPN 980 and they are slaying the defence. Again there were loads of times where receivers were in acres of space with the defence not having a clue where to run or where to be even.

I also see we deferred receiving the ball at the start of the game and for the 4th game on a row, the opposition went the length of the field and scored on the opening drive

Fumble and interception killed us. I am wrecked this morning.

Cousins was pretty terrible , our defence was pretty terrible . Cam was alright but we made it easy for him. Stewart was their main man.

Offensively Kelley never got going. I know I'm like a broken record but we need more from our run game. Also Jordan Reed .. WTF. 1st and goal and he throws a punch at a safety .. for pretty much nothing , well at least on that play. Cost us 15 yards and probably a touchdown and a chance to get back into the game ... F****n idiot. Also we have to go for it there on 4th down from the 8 yard line.

To be honest though having watched that game and the Cinci and Detroit games .. we just don't deserve to be in the playoffs.

If there is anything more stupid than punching a guy to give a 15 yard penalty in the red zone, it is doing it when he is wearing an NFL helmet.

100% , he has struggled the last couple of weeks and struggled all night last night. That looked more like the Carolina who got to the Superbowl last season than the Carolina that stunk it up against the Seahawks.

Our defence though .. holy Christ and as already mentioned our o line. We need Matt Jones and Rob Kelley in there together , Jones gives that explosive run that we just don't have with Kelley. He's a legit grinder but our o Line needs to create something for him. Last night ...

I'm f**** devastated and wrecked today because of it.

After my optimism last week getting us no where, I'm going back to being my usual pessimistic self for this week's game.

So Matt Barkley will probably go for 300 yards and 3 TDs tonight. Who's the Jason Witten and Larry Fitzgerald of the Chicago Bears does anyone know? You know the guy they go to on every 3rd and long and successfully get the first down?

But for the love of God, if they win the toss, take the ball. It'd be nice to have the offence take the field not already chasing the game.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,687 ✭✭✭✭jack presley

Worrying stat. KC is 1-7 when Jordan Reed doesn't play (and he's not playing today!)

Matt Jones inactive again today too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 151 ✭✭FollowMyWay

Chicago ain't good and the skins need to show that they can beat a team like this on the road easily enough, Jordan Howard is the main threat as he just eats up yards and the skins don't exactly have a great run D. Jeffreys didn't do much until the 4th last week, but with him and Meredith they can score.

The weather is ok in Chicago, skins offensive is two good, I'd put them up by two scores, any closer in the 4th and they may not hold on as they seem to just let teams walk it in with 2 minutes on the clock.

Nice scoring drive there. Nice mix of pass and run.

Then the defence give up a 3rd and 18. I'm lost for words.

Two more 3rd and long conversions by the Bears on that drive and a game that could have been over by HT could become a contest again

I know it's week 16 and there are injuries so a lot of roster moves but who the hell are Garvin and Virgil?

Penalties killing us on this drive.
