This system is a blight on Ireland IMHO. At least this case was thrown out. It's impossible in NZ to sue in such circumstances - but if you have a genuine injury your health costs (including covering most of your salary if you can't work) are covered by accident assurance. If there is genuine negligence, than health & safety can take remedial action against the company.

People just get paid ridiculous sums at time...people never break any bones etc, it's always that unquantifiable situation of "pain and distress".

    It's a massive blight.

You read the case, that's currently being appealed, where a lady sued and won after she tripped and cut her knee on the wooden sleepers they use as a walkway on a part of the Wicklow Way?

Genuinely sickening that she could think she had a case, find legal people to take the case, and then a judge would give her an award of 60K!!!!

Ah yeah I read that one alright. There is a word for it "bludger". I'm surprised there is not a bigger industry in Ireland (I guess most people are decent enough not to take the piss). It seems like the success rate is at least 50%+.

I suppose when you lose, you have legal costs, which will not be cheap.

A simple solution would be bringing in the death penalty for unsuccessful claims - that would see only the genuine cases brought forward :D

Well you've got my vote anyway Swiwi

The only problem is that a lot of cases that are complete piss takes are actually successful.

    I think so.

They look very different to when they were in the X Factor. Perrie Edwards (the one who used to go with that guy from One Direction) is lethal.

Good restaurants in Galway City for steak? Any ideas.

Not sure if it's too late and I have to say that I haven't been out specifically for a steak in a good while but I'm a big fan of Kai, http://kaicaferestaurant.com

Not too late, I'm thinking about getting someone a voucher for Christmas, one very fussy person who only eats steak when out, so need somewhere that does a good steak.

Thanks for the recommendation. I'll have a look.

Am I thick or is something wrong with Netflix?
I installed it on a tablet and searched for a few things but tapping on the results brings up other stuff.

For example I type in True Romance and down the left are
    true romance
    True romance director's cut
    Cracker: true romance

No matter which one I select it bring up pulp fiction and Jackie brown and a load of irrelevant stuff

Also, the picture quality is pretty poor, about 480p

It's because True Romance, and the other ones listed beside it, are not on Netflix, so it gives you a list of "similar" things that are available.

http://kirwanslane.com is another one to look at. It's a Seafood restaurant but they do Steaks and stuff as well and it's very nice

But why does it have the cracker episode listed at all? I didn't ask for it and they don't have it...
    Aah, how about Cheddar?

O: Well, we don't get much call for it around here, sir.

C: Not much ca--It's the single most popular cheese in the world!

    O: Not 'round here, sir.

C: (slight pause) and what IS the most popular cheese 'round hyah?

    O: 'Illchester, sir.

    C: IS it.

O: Oh, yes, it's staggeringly popular in this manusquire.

    C: Is it.

O: It's our number one best seller, sir!

C: I see. Uuh... 'Illchester, eh?

    O: Right, sir.

C: All right. Okay. 'Have you got any?' He asked, expecting the answer 'no'.

    O: I'll have a look, sir.. nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnno.

Because they give you anything that has the words you typed in. Say you can't remember the full title of what it is you want to search for, it gives you all the possible options, even the ones they don't have. It does seem rather pointless, but that's how it is.

What's your budget? Kai is amazing IMO, had a fantastic steak there last week, but it's pricy. Blakes on the Corner also do great steaks and are more budget-friendly if that's a consideration.

I think I was looking at Blakes.... or something on the Corner.... They have steak section on their menu and you can choose cut, how it's cooked, sauces, sides etc.etc.
I would probably be looking at covering a decent meal for 2 so maybe €50-75ish.

What we have at the moment is 50% of our population going unrepresented. You then need to step in.

What kind of rubbish is this. Since when do men have to be represented by men and women represented by women?
