So you know the way that Canadian Alison Curtis is from Canada? How many times does Canada have to mention Canada is from Canada in every show?

has she mentioned shes got a kid yet

I've switched to Newstalk this week. It's pretty ****e but I just can't stand Curtis.

Anyone any other recommendations. Is 2FM any use from 9 - 12?

I miss Anton so much. He had such a likable personality, very charismatic, genuine feel to him, going to be very hard to replace. I cant stand Alison's voice so I've completely tuned out of the time slot. Any ideas on where Anton will show his head again?

We listened to TodayFM all day, every day in our office - today we changed the dial to Q102. Do TodayFM not realize that they are going to lose a lot more listeners.
I am guessing that Neil Delamare is in the running for the spot if its internal. Who are the other front runners?

If it's Delamere I'll cut my ears off. He's total scutter always trying to shoehorn his fake laugh into every sentence

    If it's Delamere

Yeah, I'll be definitely tuning out too.

Is there a way for them to check the daily figures, or do they have to wait for the JLNR ratings to come out?

I'd say the listenership has slumped dramatically since Friday

I tuned into Turbridy this morning. It was OK I suppose but the music was fairly stale.

Totally forgot it's Tubridy at that time - no chance I'm listening to him. Might start listening to podcasts as I'm already listening to Spotify after D&D at 2:30pm

I think the JNLRs are calculated by a survey so unless they've been carrying out a survey this week I don't think they can tell?

I think there might be an up to the minute function that monitors people tuning in.

I've stopped listening and Spotify is my friend. I listened back a little earlier to a couple of the podcasts and they were painful. I used to enjoy Anton's banter with Niamh Fitzpatrick the agony aunt. Alison Curtis could barely read out the email from the listener. Her interview with Patrick Bergin was dreadful. She should've just let the man talk instead of interjecting with inane comments. I stopped bothering after that :(

Anton would be a good fit for 4fm, not sure if they would have that kind of a budget.

Are there not rumours that it's on the verge of going to the wall?

Anton would not fit in on 4FM at all unless they were to DRASTICALLY reformat.

4fm is gutter radio. Anton is more sophisticated than that.

I think he'd fit in more on Nova, if they ever went down a magazine/music type show.

It'd be a step down. Don't forget those of us living outside Dublin who can't pick up 4FM, Nova etc without faffing about with our phones :-(

No, there is no such function.

JNLR / MRBI interviews 16,000 individuals over the course of 50 weeks of the year. It is researching every week except the last 2 weeks of the year. They publish the latest numbers quarterly!

Agree it be a step down alright, but at the same time I can't see him going to 2fm, maybe rte1 but where. Maybe newstalk but can't see that working. His options are quite limited if he wants to stay national.

Well, realistically, any move from here will be a "step down" unless he's parachuted into Radio 1, which is really unlikely.

    Interesting.

A number of weeks back when Phantom was finishing up a user was commenting on the amount of listeners for the hour before they closed. Pretty sure they quoted figures. I must look up that post out of interest.

i think that was online listeners, which would be easy to keep an eye on.

Whether he jumped or whether he was pushed Anton won't be stuck for a job. He'll probably juggle his time between the Communications clinic and corporate engagements.

Anywhere other than radio 1would be a step down certainly and even then he might only get a Marian style show intermittently. I think he'd be a great replacement for Mary Wilson who is a dreadful presenter.

The fluffier side of his show never really suited him although he had the skill and intelligence to pull it off. His strength is hard core serious interviewing on serious subject matter.

There's a slot on Newstalk breakfast I wouldn't mind hearing him on. Far preferable to the team of insufferables they've put in there since Ivan left.
