Yup, he'll always be tarnished somewhat by the whole CC/Kate Fitzgerald debacle, not to mention the nefarious involvement of Savage Snr and Prone.

Even the picture of him and that horrible unsettling toothy rictus grin gives me the creeps.

i'd say 99% of the posters in this thread have no idea what you're talking about.

edit. my mistake, i was aware of the story, but wasn't aware the allegation towards him.

Rather petty of Today FM to take down all menton of Anton from their website.

9 Monday morning will be interesting, to see who fills in and what is said, also at 8:55... the usual "banter" between Ian Dempsey and the next presenter, will they discuss or just have a big elephant in the studio!

They'll act like he was never there. They were prob all sent an e mail warning them not to publically wish him well

Most would be aware of the PR family background and the Kate Fitzgerald tragedy. Not sure It's got much to do with the thread though.

Iano till 10 D&D till 1 and the returning Foley from 1-4 (if they change the time format) is for me the only way to keep me as a listener I think. Although out of all the current staff (Duffy Darcey McSweeney Hector Curtis Cawley Delamare Mcloone) the only person currently employed id give a chance to is Muireen although something like Shauna and Nordy Eoghan who've cut there teeth in other slots on Today fm I'd more then likely try out

Shauna and Eoghan are good craic and bounce well off each other. I loved them on Friday Night 90s so I'd definitely listen to them on a daytime show. Hard to know whether they'd be suited to it though. Not flashy enough for most people I suspect.

The presenter is one thing but the layout if the show has to change in my opinion. Less advice and misery slots and more quirky guests and interviews. Ive never liked any of the advice sections bar the consumer advice. Fergal Crehan was a big loss there I think

I reckon it will be Muireann

We are talking about Denis O Brien here, a guy who would take you to court if you farted in his direction!

Ya they won't call it the Anton savage show or nothing.id say Ian will just sign off to the news and a generic presenter will come on and say we're here till 12 with none of antons comps/slots/segments but something like the classic 9@11 instead

I gotta wonder what Skoda think of all this???

As someone who was a fan of Tom's morning show, and a proud holder of a Tom Dunne Loyalty Card, it would take an utter lunatic of a PD to EVER give him a slot like that again. He had a listenership of roughly 55,000 on a national station.

I think Tom is suited to the slot he currently has. A laid back, music oriented show.

    Here's a scenario:
    - Paul McLoone to take over Anton's slot.
    - Tom Dunne to take over Paul McLoone's slot.
    - Ray Foley to take over Tom Dunne's slot with a more magazine style show akin to The Green Room.

That'd wrap up the rumours Foley has been spotted in NT with a nice bow! :pac:

I don't get to listen to much morning radio these days. The few times I had the opportunity to catch the Savage show I was impressed. It was good radio that moved between the light and the serious in a manner that didn't seem forced. Music choices were interesting as well.

Maybe that magazine type show is coming to an end? It isn't working for Darcy and Moncrieff seems to be dialling it in some days.

I enjoyed listening to Anton. Used to have some decent guests and tackle some issues all the while not taking everything nails-on-a-chalkboard seriously.

Disappointed to see him go, it'll be interesting to see who'll replace him.

I personally think that Ian Dempsey or Dermot and Dave shows might get extended or Paula McSweeney might get her chance to get a better slot.

Lately, Anton, D&D and Cooper were the 3 shows id listen to on today fm....

Every morning the car radio would be on todayfm from the spin home the previous eve and i get some of dempseys show ... mostly until he mentions Bowie... thats me gone then.

I think Anton was a breath of fresh air tbh...

Would love his... "hang on a second, go back to the piece where you inadvertently impaled yourself with a frozen carrot, how did that scenario come about?" Line of interviewing

pretty much the same with me. only started listening to today fm almost 2 years ago when the show started, but with newstalk acting the bollox, i'd only switch over for moncrieff.
at least there's Christmas fm for the next few weeks.

Genuinely gutted when I heard this yesterday.. I'm by no means a radio buff but over time I started listening to the show most days, it just worked - there was a nice mix between serious and light hearted topics, random playlist and Anton is a witty, knowledge guy whose zest and enthusiasm were a welcome relief from the pedantic misery-fest the Ray D'arcy show had become.

Without knowing what went on behind closed doors shame on Today FM - they killed off a great show and Irish radio will be a duller place come Monday morning at 9am.

Jaysus, are they purposely trying to piss us off. Bye bye Today Fm. I'll switch back for D&D but I'll be gone again after that show

I don't know why you're thick with Alison it's not her fault that she has to fill in for anton. If todayfm top brass weren't such gob****es then this situation wouldn't have happened.

Because her show is terrible, worse than terrible, it's absolute garbage. All she does is talk about kids, give out text/phone numbers and fake laugh at everything. I'm not joking when I say it's the worst show on Irish radio. I'd rather listen to Tubridy
