They've been racing on the wrong side of the road in their white vans for hundreds of years, I'll have you know.

Actually, it wasn't even a race. Only one sulky?

Used to regularly see them with one car "pacing" a sulky on that road.
3 cars wide is taking the absolute p1ss for a "training spin", not that it being a legit race would excuse it.

You wouldn't have to look to far to find the culprits I'd say, a few cultural enclaves nearby. I wonder will anything come of it!

Hey all. I know this question has been asked already, but it can be difficult to review the tread if you're not involved in the discussion...

I've drawn my brother in law for Chris Kindle, he has asked for an infra red dash Cam that is good at night... What's the best quality/most highly recommended? The limit is €50, but I'm willing to go above to get the right thing

See the other thread for advice, here: http://touch.boards.ie/thread/2056815237/1/#post81902582

I can tell you however that infra-red is basically a complete gimmick that may have some limited benefit when parked only.

For night driving on country roads, the infra-red lights on the dashcam would have to be as powerful as your headlights, coupled with a lens and imagery as good as, or better than your eyes to see anything meaningful.

After that, what will have the biggest influence on a night time video will be the lens, then imager as opposed to resolution. I can see you struggling in the sub €100 price range, but others may have better suggestions than myself.

thanks for the advice, I'll change the question to ask what's best at night...

Pretty boring, the drive to work in heavy fog the other morning. The cams make it look much clearer than it was

Normally the point of contention on that road is another 100 m further on!

Considering the self-righteous gesture you threw her way, what did you expect?

    Another merging video.

Fancy causing a bit of a pile-up? No problem, just follow the example of the highly trained professional driver at the wheel of the minibus taxi in front: Don't accelerate to sync your speed to the speed on the dual carriageway. Just trundle along, then change lanes.

and straight into the "fast" right lane, thats usually a car park, while the left lane moves.

Good few posters on here advocate this manoeuvre :( - "speed kills", "it's a limit not a target" etc etc.

I like to call those posters 'idiots'

To be honest, it is in a way a target because if you're on a 100km/h road and you're doing 70 or 80, you're going to be pissing others off and have them overtaking you so they can do 100km/h. Do 100km/h and if someone overtakes you then it is they who are speeding, not you.

I would go so far as to say that it happens everyone if they're stuck behind someone doing 70 or 80 on a 100km/h road that they say to themselves "ah for fvck sake will you speed up". Myself included.

No, I don't think they do actually. Some, though, can see the issue with doing 180km/h in a 100 zone, but sure that's pretty much the same thing right?

Completely depends on the quality and condition of the road.

yea sometimes I get frustrated, but I would never expect someone go at the full speed limit, cause that's what it is, a limit. And I seriously doubt everyone feels the same, that is just a stupid thing to say. you ought to have more sense than to post crap like this.

I would go so far to as to say that you should not use the roads with an attitude like that.

    doing 80 or 90 on a 100 km/h road is the norm.
I drive as close to 100 as I can , even a little over and I overtake dozens of cars, whilst almost no one passes me. It's me that is unusual, not the slower drivers.

Or, there are those that merge fine. But, there are those that were behind that still have to go up that bit further to get in. Some even drive on into the hard shoulder until someone lets them in. I will let one in when they merge. Anyone else can feck off, if they try to get that bit further ahead!
