Heading to Thailand at xmas, I've read posts here form 5-7 years ago all advising to exchange euro's when you arrive in Thailand, very easy, plenty of exchange places & ATM's,  plus a better rate. Is this still the case in 2016? anyone been in the last year?
    Thanks

Don't even think of exchanging until you arrive in Thailand. The Irish banks and currency exchange shops offer a terrible rate on Thai baht (about 4 or 5% worse).

When you arrive at Suvarnabhumi Airport (assuming you are landing in Bangkok) go to the basement level of the airport next to the Airport Rail Link Station to exchange money. There are 5 or 6 currency exchange shops that offer much better rates than the bank-operated exchange windows in the main part of the airport.

Be warned that Thai ATMs charge 200 baht on all foreign bank cards along with the exchange rate and fee charged by your bank so you are probably looking at €10 for each withdrawal.
