    Hi all,

Just wondering how long this takes to get from Heuston to Leeson Street area? I would be aiming to hop on at around 8.10 am.

Also, what would the reverse be, say hopping on the bus around 6.30 pm?

I used to get it a couple of years ago and it would take about a half hour. But with all the works now and it going a different route to when I used to get it I'm not sure re times.

    Thanks.

Not the best times, Id say allow for anything between 30 to 50 minutes. It will probably be closer to 30 but as you said the luas works and sheer volume of cars at that hour of the day will delay everything.

*** Luas works are to be minimized in the city centre in the run up to Christmas so that might improve things a little bit.

You could go Dublin Bikes from Heuston to Fitzwilliam Square West, Fitzwilliam Square East or Wilton Terrace? Take about 20 mins

Thats what I would do anyway.

Dublin bikes can be scarce at that time

I have a fold up bike. I'm just not too bothered leaving suits etc. in work to get changed when I'm there and we don't have a proper shower either.

Maybe LUAS to Abbey and walk for like 30 mins?

That is truly diabolical if it takes 30-50 mins. It's a 3.5km walk, so around 35 minutes. There's something seriously messed up if a bus is slower than walking.

Cycling really doesn't have to be that vigorous an activity. I certainly don't shower every morning in work, I leisurely cycle into work, safer and nice to get a bit of fresh air. We don't wear suits in in my office though. Smart casual is fine.

If you wear a suit to work you have to shower if you cycle in. Otherwise its dirty.

That's a myth. Hundredths of thousands of Dutch people do it every day and don't need to shower. A leisurely cycle is no more exerting than a walk. Would you shower if you walked to work?

Well its a longer journey when you take into account all the stops - it goes right down to OConnell bridge then back up by Trinity, Leinster house and onto Leeson St.

But yeah, if you walk in through Thomas street, down through the liberties etc you can get to Stephens Green in about 25 mins

Don't blame the bus, private cars are the problem. Volume of vehicles at that time of day slows everything up.

I agree. I didn't blame the bus (though buses are a horrible form of public transport). It's the mess the city centre is in that is the problem. Too many cars with one passenger clogging up the city.

Thanks guys. So I'm looking at 30 up to 50 minutes on the bus these days. Absolutely shambolic city for trying to get around.
