My golf buddy is approx 8 years old and had been causing problems , I don't rely on it to turn on anymore and the screen is packing up . I priced a new buddy PT4 at €400 ( jeez ) but saw a Garmin for €200 it's called Approach G6. At half the price it's an attractive option . Can anyone offer advice please ?

Had the G6 for 4 years, and i think its great. Picks up satellites quick and never any bother, and even still can get 2 -3 rounds without charging. Free map upgrades too, and good for recording scores and basic stats. Go for it, don't think you'll be disappointed.

Someone mentioned on here a few back they saw available for €160 i think, so have a look around.

+1 for the Garmin - certainly at that kind of price - will last at least 2 rounds without charging it, no annual fee either and generally pretty accurate as far as I can tell. When I compare distances using my G6 to others I've played with and their GPS/rangefinders they are very close or the same.

Similar to the OP, my Golfbuddy World looks like it may have packed in.

It turns on fine when its connected to the power outlet, but no joy when its disconnected.

I'm assuming it means that the battery life has run its course. Anyone had similar issues, and any experience with getting it fixed?
