Any type of door to door delivery man who regularly serviced the housewives he delivered to? The legend of such characters had to come from somewhere?

Yes, they made a few documentaries about it...

Along the lines of, 'Confessions of a...'

They are not narrated by David Attenborough though, as he was contracted to the BBC.

I heard of a local milkman who had to give it up and move away over something along those lines years ago.

On the other hand, I had a lecturer in college who was the head off him, so much so I had to google who played him to be sure it wasn't him.....

Knew a milkman years ago that was suppose to be having it of with a few ladies on his rounds. Don't know how true it is.

I'll tell you where it came from: sexually frustrated door to door delivery men who got through the day fantasising about what could, within the physical parameters of the universe, be possible. Some may have even made up some stuff down the pub and others believed it, spreading the legend. One time one got the village slapper pregnant and that just confirmed to those who wished to believe it that this happens all the time, always, to every person who delivers a good or service up and down the country. Graham Linehen wrote a pisstake episode about this and the rest is history.
