Portlaoise to Waterford - best road

    Hi,

    I'm driving from Waterford to Portlaoise soon and was wondering which is the best road to take - N77 via Kilkenny or N80 via Carlow?

    Google maps says N77 is a little bit shorter but N80 has fewer bends on the map!

    I've done both and personally speaking I prefer the Waterford/Kilkenny/Portlaoise option.
    Or more precisely; KK -Durrow-Abbeyleix- Portlaoise rather than KK to Portlaoise.

    Particularly in winter weather, more straightforward.
