walked all of the blue sections in my area, basically what starts off as 1 blue line breaks up into 3 segments and I'm near the end of the first segment.

All ducting is now coded in white paint with arrows.
On my section of blue line the ducting ends about 400 meters from my home and there are about 8 Eir poles starting from where the ducting ends to the last pole on the road which is 1 pole past my home.

Out of the 8 poles, 4 of them are coded with yellow paint on the roadside as WP1 (first pole where ducting ends), then a few poles on it's WP2 etc. The pole outside my gate is marked as WP4 with END and an arrow pointing back towards Dunshaughlin.

I presume these WP1-4 marked poles signify extra work will be carried out?
I guess the pole outside my home will feed the final pole including the last 2 houses on the road.

It's the same situation on the other 2 blue line segments, some poles have been marked WP (1,2,3,4) etc and the second last pole on each of those segments also has a WP code and END with an arrow.

Perhaps the code WP could mean Winter Pole as in these poles will be wired up during winter.

From what I saw it definitely appears that the blue lines end where they are on the map.
Around here the first fix was done over six weeks ago and there has been nothing since.

The poles were marked with an "L" which appears to mean loop as there is a coil of fibre at the top of these poles and also they are near to houses, so I expect that is where they are going to install the splitters for individual houses.

Using that logic I assume where you have WP on the poles it means "wiring point", so if that is the case when the first fix fibres are installed there will be a loop or coil of fibre at the top of the pole.

At the moment there appears to be no sign of the second fix crew anywhere.

WP stands for work point as far as I'm aware

    Folks,

It seems from all mapping and checker that Fibre is available in my townland. The house is down a lane, approximately 150m from the route.

We have an eircom landline? Would Fibre connection be possible?

You should be fine, as it's rural FTTH they are aware that many homes will have long drive ways from the main road, but this is EIR after all😬.

They will come from both depends on each individual area

All come from exchanges, some just run *underneath* cabs.

Update from Ennis today Saturday ...... there were 5 or 6 eir vans out along a blue-line area (Balloughboy side of Ennis).
Previously they had, as I reported brought cable up into coils on the poles through some ducting.
I am unsure what they did today, but they were working on that cable up the poles.
No house connections made as yet, as far as I am aware.

Pic of a pole before today's work (can I re-size the display of the pic?)

Further update regarding Ennis FTTH ......... there are eir vans again deployed on the Ennis blue lines today SUNDAY!

If anyone had any doubts about eir's commitment to rolling out this FTTH in good time, these events should make them think again.

To have eir vans and personnel out on Saturday and Sunday working on the roll out is, for me, very encouraging.

EDIT: A pic of a similar pole after the work yesterday

I got to see the inside of one of those black plastic boxes this week, looking over an Open eir guy's shoulder while he was doing some fusion splicing (for an NGN circuit, not for rural FTTH). I think he said it can handle up to 96 splices, with up to six multi-strand cables entering the box.

    Updating the tracker spreadsheet.
A good few Winter 2016 places with no work noted on them yet.

no sign of the lads working in our area any weekends so far, must be only certain exchanges where they have lads working on a Saturday and Sunday.

I'm hoping to see more progress this week. Very little happened here last week other than hedge/tree cutting and marking/painting all the ducting and poles.

I reckon it will be at least late January/February before our winter 2016 exchange goes live. Still some ducting work happening across the exchange, Ive seen no evidence of any wiring except for reading that the Trim road near Drumree is wired up.

Don't despair, they may turn up mob handed one day and to the entire job in less than a week. First fix here was very rapidly done.

Im kinda hoping that this week coming will be the week!

Even if it is and everywhere is wired up by next weekend the area wont go live till maybe a few days before Christmas. No installers till the new year! But it probably will be January when the area goes live, Christmas is so close now.

KN were also here in Turloughmore, County Galway yesterday and today fitting those same boxes to poles. I was also shocked to see them working away on a Sunday at 8.00am!! We are still down for Winter 2016, so maybe...just maybe....

I wonder are the fitting of these boxes the last stage of the rollout of FTTH prior to the area going live? Or does another KN team have to do anything?

Looking at that photo, it's a splice box with only one cable going into it, which means that there is splicing still to be done. When you see several cables going into one of those, you're getting warmer.

At what stage would that splicing be done? ........ when individual premises are being connected or prior to that?

since the pole beside my gate is a wiring point/working point pole, Im guessing the pole will feature one of these splicing boxes?

I don't know. If I find out, I'll update. My point was just that at the moment it looks like a splice box with no splices in it, so there's work still to be done.

Most likely when whoever is served from that pole signs up for FTTH KN Networks will come and feed dropwires from that box.

The basis for my question was a thought that there might be nothing further needing to be done there until someone wants a connection to their home.
If that is the case then the 'roll out' part of the work is done, and that pole is ready for connection teams to start wiring up premises ...... of course also depending on the whole line being properly enabled.

Fiber rollout map has been updated.

It doesn't surprise me that there is another run of delays including my own exchange.

Dunshaughlin moved from Winter 2016 to Winter 2016/2017.

Ratoath moved from Winter 2016 to early/mid 2017.

    Ashbourne moved from Winter/Spring to early/mid 2017.

lots of exchanges delayed by at least 3 months.

proof that getting another 36,000 live by end of 2016 was a pile of crap, don't believe anything you read in the papers.

Ah nuts Gonzo. Was rooting for Santa to bring you a big, fat pipe!!!

Curragh Camp gone from Winter 2017/Spring 2017 to early/mid 2017

kells has a first live FTTH date as January 2017.

I reckon now it will be February/March before Dunshaughlin goes live.

Loads of Winter and Spring exchanges are now early/mid 2017 which to me reads earliest June.

Same here in North County Dublin. Was winter 2016/spring 2017. Now early/mid 2017. It's disappointing when the estimates are so vague to begin with, that they just replace one vague estimate, with one three months further out. I'm not getting a strong impression that they have a proper handle, on how long it's going to take.

correct. At this stage most exchanges are going to arrive over a year late from the original completion time of March 2017.

Will they still claim to have it all completed by end of 2018? The first 100,000 will still be going on well into 2018.

Yep, my exchange in Claregalway has moved from "Winter 2016 / Spring 2017" to "Early/Mid 2017" :(

And Turloughmore up the road is also now the same, despite previously being the slightly more optimistic "Winter 2016" and ShyBoy reporting just yesterday on KN installation activity in that area
