Does nobody think Aldo is done? I don't think we'll ever see him back. To me it looks like he's made his decision and he strikes me as a guy who money genuinely doesn't mean all that much to.

Whatever's going on in his head, he looked absolutely brilliant the last time he was in the cage.

Diaz wins the belt from Conor he has every right to go to 170 to become the SECOND person to hold 2 belts at once in the ufc.

But what if he ends up fighting a mid-ranked 170 fighter, loses, and then decides he wants a rematch and McGregor can wait for a rematch?? Change.org wouldn't know what hit it with the amount of petitions it's Have from here demanding Nate was stripped of the belt.

And for the second mid level 170 fight, McGregor is told to fight Khabib or Ferguson for an interim belt.

Yep no problem with it I wont be on internet forums crying about it anyways.

but what if fucking dana white himself decides hes up next for the 155 shot?

literally as much validity as what you just said...your only argument is hair brained what ifs...when I said come up with something new, this is not what I meant

Nonsense!!! The amount of whinging and hot air when Aldo got injured before their first fight was pathetic, and the exact same, or worse would happen if the above happened.

all you're doing is saying ''if x were to happen, then y would happen aswel'' again and again with no facts to back up the crystal ball bs that you're spewing

No you see the difference between me and you is I dont cry about any match ups, as many people will testify I watch every card basically so theres no point in me complaining and not voting with my feet(viewership), considering Nate Diaz is one of my favourite fighters I'd tune in to watch him fight a bin man.

I watch most cards too, i like MMA as a sport. The UFC is turning it into WWE, where it doesn't matter who the best fighters are, its all about who makes the most money.

Dont watch the fights so and they will stop putting them on, theres a reason the match making is gone the way it is, the viewership want them are happy with them and tune in, 202 the joke rematch as the purists call it ( 1st or 2nd most watched ppv ever in martial arts cant remember if it beat ufc100) says it all.

Its an analogy, is it really that difficult to understand?? Even with the amount of blows to the head hes taken Nate Diaz would be able to get it. It is hardly rocket science, its not even firework science.

People with McGregor tinted glasses think everything is fine, but if the same happened to McGregor there would be uproar.

I think he's held up the FW belt enough. It should be next. His fight after next could be a good while off.

    Held up how?

Max Holloway is on a 9 fight win-streak. Guess who hasn't beaten him? Jose Aldo.

Conor has beaten both Aldo and Holloway.

If Aldo had gone and beaten Holloway then I'd 100% agree with you. It's not "held up" when there are 2 guys with legitimate claims to be the number 1 contender.
So no one!!! Thanks for proving my point.
Your "point" is effectively: "nobody should get a title shot at a weight class above without having fought in that weight class multiple times to deserve it".

By your "logic" neither BJ Penn nor Randy Couture warranted a shot at the title in the weight class above/below. The former had a 1-1 record at the class and the latter had never even fought there.

Actually by your logic, GSP wouldn't have deserved to go straight for Anderson Silva's middleweight strap when they were both dominant.

Your logic also dictates that Jon Jones wouldn't have deserved a crack at Cain Velasquez strap when they were both champions.

I guarantee you would not be on this forum telling everyone that Daniel Cormier or Jon Jones must go beat Stefan Struve, Andre Arlovski and Fabricio Werdum to justify a shot at Stipe Miocic.

Your problem isn't with a champion going up a weight class to immediately challenge for a title. Your problem is you can't stand Conor McGregor.

its actually not an analogy atal :D you're stating it as fact saying this will happen, that will happen...no way of saying if any of that will happen, the worst of it would be a few guys pouring into online forums to whinge about the ufcs ''unfair'' matchmaking...never seen that happen before though!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,293 ✭✭✭✭mdwexford

I'd say the opposite, less risk going after multiple titles and fighting at higher weights than defending your belt

    You would be wrong then.

    That's why nobody does it.

    Your posts are embarrassing.

Literally the worst poster to ever post here and that's saying something.

Mod: Cut out this nonsense, attack the post not the poster if you have something to say

so Conor destoyed Eddie and Jose in both his title fights because he makes more money?

No, but he shouldn't have been in a position to fight Eddie. He should have MAYBE had a fight with the No 1 contender and if he won that then fair enough. But being offered 2 title fights at a level he'd never fought at is ridiculous and was done for the money.

Im fairness aldo doesnt have to go near max, he earned the right to the rematch and the interim belt by beating Frankie. Now please unify and be done with the division for good

Eddie shouldnt of been near the title fight that won him the fight if anything, coming off a loss and 2 decisions to get a shot he wasnt on RDA's level.

He was fighting in the same division though, the no 1 contender isn't always gonna be available, or there may not be a exclusive number one contender. Or the UFC may have said we will give the 155 champ a lower ranked opponent to get the ring rust off him after his injury.

Why doesn't he "have to go near Max"? 4 of Jose Aldo's 8 UFC wins are against 2 men. People say Conor didn't clean FW out entirely.....well Aldo sure as hell didn't either. Let him fight the winner of Max v Pettis and prove beyond doubt he's the number 1 contender.

This mystique created around Aldo is amusing. Terrific fighter but people like to spin his 5 year tenure in the UFC to be something it's not and they usually try include the WEC days when he was a completely different fighter. He's 8-1 inside the UFC and half of his wins were against Frankie and Chad.

He had 50 minutes to try put Frankie away and never really came close to doing so.

The UFC can legitimately make Aldo v Pettis/Holloway and Khabib v Ferguson and then Conor has 2 clear number 1 contenders he MUST face if he wants to defend his straps.

Nothing is 'held up' if they choose that course of action. That's 2 exciting eliminators for the number 1 contender spot.

Im sorry but there IS no doubt he is the no 1 contender, that is effectively what the interim belt is that he holds.. would it be the same story if when connor beat Mendes at 189 dana said actually no you have the interim belt but you are not next in line, you have to fight Frankie next before getting your shot at aldo...some craic in here if that happened
