Milk Frothing

Is it just this cheap Lidl/Aldi (cant remember where i bought it)
frother or is it the milk I'm using?

The instructions state that using 1.5 or 3.5 % fat works best but some days the milk froths perfectly direct from the fridge and other times its warmed milk with a few bubbles on the top of it.

I've tried a few varieties of milk and I can't get a constant result.

My question is - are the more expensive Nespresso milk frotherers always consistent in delivering a frothy milk or is it hit and miss?

Not familiar with the Lidl milk frother as I use a DeLonghi with a built in steamer/frother, I can get inconsistent results as well. If you look at this thread from a while back it might give you some insights into the inconsistencies of milk http://touch.boards.ie/thread/2057526055/1

Temperature is one of the most important considerations at this time of the year. With the reduced enzymes in the milk, leaving milk out of the fridge is a no no if you want it to froth consistently.

I use the Nespresso frother and never have an issue unless I use milk that is not cold.

    Slight aside:
Friend of mine in the coffee trade made some milk based coffees for me last week. He used milk he received as samples from a place called North Cork Creamery who are doing a milk aimed specifically at the coffee frothing market. Really excellent froth on it and the froth stayed on the drink for ages. Good level of micro bubbles obviously.
