    Hack the Planet!

If they make it like the 90's Hackers film I'm 100% on board.
All they need is a rotary phone and one of those modems where you have to leave the handset on top of it.

The first watch dogs was a big disappointment. I'm finding the more complicated and involved these games get the less likely I am to stick with them. There isn't as much pick up and play to modern games, I've tried going back to some games but I've forgotten how it works and I couldn't be bothered investing the time again.

Even the last GTA sort of disappointed me.

The more I see the more I like. Looking forward to it now, especially since Deus Ex and Mafia 3 didn't grab me.

Will hold off until I've seen a few reviews too though.

I knew the first one was going to be a flaming mess when I saw the trailer and 'Press Button to Hack!!'....A game about hacking that actually took zero skill to do. Paradroid, a commodore64 game (google it whippersnappers) had a hacking mini-game that you could run on a single button 8 position joystick. And the modern version 'Press button t...' .
Maybe this one will actually have gameplay relevant to the subject matter.

    A £30 season pass!

    http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2016-11-02-heres-everything-in-watch-dogs-2s-season-pass

Modern gaming is getting really painful with all this crap, a proper complete game is getting very expensive. But people must be lapping this stuff up.

Yeah doesn't look like anything I'd be too interested in.
Didn't get any DLC for the first one either.

I have absolutely no interest in getting Watch dogs 2.

The main character just doesn't seem right. I'd prefer if they used Aiden again but gave the voice actor better lines.

I was one of the few who actually liked watch dogs 1 even with all its flaws.

There are other articles from VentureBeat and GamesIndustry.biz which go into what they expect in more detail.

The two most revelant bits from each article actually relate to each other quite nicely in what appears to be a slowly changing approach to pre-orders.
Finally, Guillemot also alleviated investor concerns that Watch Dogs 2 could flop. He says that he believes gamers are uncertain about the quality of the sequel compared to the original. The CEO expects that many consumers aren’t preordering so they can take a wait-and-see approach and then jump in to buy it when they see positive reviews. That’s something that happened with Far Cry: Primal for Ubisoft in the last half of its fiscal 2016.
"We do consider that preorders are important," Guillemot said when asked about how reservations were shaping up for Watch Dogs 2, "but they are not completely [crucial] for the success of the game."

It was clear from the call that Ubisoft considers preorders less reliable indicators of a game's eventual performance than they used to be. Part of that is due to customers knowing that scarcity is no longer an issue; if they decide to buy a game at launch, they can always download it instead of being forced to locate a physical copy in a local store. But it also varies from game to game. The executives pointed to Far Cry 3 as an example, saying that preorders for the title weren't great because players wanted to see if it received good reviews and word of mouth before committing to it. Rainbow 6 Siege was another example given of a game that didn't do very well at launch, but turned its performance around as a result of the publisher committing to improving the game over months and adopting player feedback.

I enjoyed the first game too but Aiden was dull as dishwater so I'm glad he hasn't returned. Saying that tho, I'm not mad on the new character either - he seems to be 10 seconds away from taking selfies

Well, I'd say some where between Aiden and whoever the new lad is.

There is no depth what so ever with the new character. Did someone steal his fair trade mocha frappuccino and now he is on a mission to passive aggressively hack them to death.

Taking selfies in front of landmarks raises your social media following giving you a bigger network of people to use for hacking.

Not a big deal really, I'd be more concerned if single player had issues.

Eurogamer not releasing their review until Multiplayer works. I wish they'd give the Single player part of it at least and hold back the score even.

    http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2016-11-14-wheres-our-watch-dogs-2-review
The embargo for Watch Dogs 2 reviews has just lifted, and having spent quite some time with the finished article with Ubisoft having given out final code last week it's looking like a sizable improvement after the first game with a new sense of personality and purpose. Right now, though, there are crippling issues with the seamless multiplayer that have the potential to impact performance for all players, sending the frame-rate plunging and causing hard crashes.

Yupp world, more GTA than Far Cry. San Fran is completely open from the biginning the devs said. The 2 hours of gameplay vid I posted earlier is basically the guy wandering around doing random stuff, looks very open.

I never ended up bothering to play the first one. Was it actually objectively a bad game, or was it just looked poorly upon for falling so far short of the hype?

I didn't think it was a bad game, hyped up definitely, I enjoyed it, loads of people hated it though.

Pretty much your second point with a dash of unlikeable characters and uninteresting story.

Didn't know **** about it when I got it as a present, played it for an hour or two, thought it was cool and then got bored very quickly. Probably played about 3 hours overall, haven't looked at it since

I really enjoyed doing the invasions in Watch Dogs 1. Basically you invade someone's campaign to attempt to hack them as they track you down.

    Will this be in WD2?

WD 1 was boring but hacking\being hacked was a great craic, will definitely be doing a bit of that if I decide to pick it up.

It's currently sitting on a Metascore of 86 based on 33 reviews which is pretty incredible (the 16th best rated PS4 game of 2016).

This is very quickly becoming a must-have for me. Just a question now whether I get it myself now or I hope the lovely other half will allow it on my Christmas list :D

Got this today in Argos. A voucher I had swayed my decision. Have to say, it's great craic so far. The world is brilliant just to stop and look at, NPC's reactions are gas, parkour is fast and fluid and the characters are great. I really thought the hiostr hackers would be annoying but they have some good writing behind their douchey talk. Voice actors do a good job as well.

Driving is arcadey and it suits the world but the handling could be tweaked to make it less sensitive. I'm finding motor bikes the best way to get around. Phone apps are class like the Shazam one that identifies music playing around you and adds to your playlist. Only did a few missions so far but having a lot more fun already than my whole time with Mafia 3.

Such an improvement over the first game. Far more pleasant world to explore, an interesting batch of characters who I'm already invested in after 3 or so hours, and most importantly IMO the hacking feels far more fleshed out than it did in the original.

Oh and it's worth noting that Ubi have finally ditched theit bulls hit sync point/tower mechanic that has plagued all their open world games for years now. You discover the content simply by exploring the world in this one which is very refreshing as it feels very natural after years of feeling like I was doing nothing more than systematically checking items of a list of things to do in Ubi's games.
