    McGregor via Decision

so that way when they do lose, its so heart breaking for them, it seems to break them. I dont think any fighter he's stopped has looked the same ever since

Mendes is done, Aldo isnt much better. Poierer is done. Do i see Alvarez making another run for the title? I doubt it.
Mendes lost to Frankie, hardy means he lost anything.
Porrier went 4-0 at LW before leaving losing
Aldo looked great upon his return.
    Holloway is 9-0 since McGregor

Literally only Brimage, .Brandao and Siver have dropped the ball

Was Nate there? I'd read that he was supposed to be and he had a NY after party organised but didn't see a camera panning to him at all.

Wow. Had my little nap after the fight and just can't believe with this little kid from crumbling has managed to do. Am I dreaming? He was in fine form tonight, both inside and outside, loved all the irishisms in the post fight conference.

What's up with Eddie? No interview after the fight, no sign of him at post press conference? Is he too injured or a sore loser type thing?

Alvarez did two interviews. Might have had to go to hospital after as a precaution, who knows. NYSAC are very tentative with fighters these days wouldn't surprise me if that was the case.

Looks like he was at the Joey Diaz gig in Foxwoods? Nice shout out for Burt

Nate had a meet and greet session in a bar close to MSG the day of the fight. So he must have been at fight

I wonder are the fighters' fees released in NY the same way they are in Nevada?

I would be curious to see what they are.

Fair play to Conor. He did what he had to. Alvarez really put up no fight. LW champion? He was very weak. I expected at least some decent effort.

What are the chances of 3E showing this during the week? Is that gone out the window with the switch to Eir? The fight cut out about 10 seconds before the end this morning, and came back with McGregor celebrating. Bleh.

Gracious in defeat, fair play to him.

I do have to feel a little freaked out at how accurate Conor was in his pre-match 'banter' and predictions.

His face is completely busted up, his lip looks horrible, his kids will definitely not be used to seeing their old man like that.

I think that's what attracts so many people to Conor - what he says, he does.

Genuine question, after that masterclass do people still think Khabib would dominate McGregor?
Seems like Khabib would shoot and McGregor would use range and reach to connect

Hard to tell, Khabib does look an animal when he gets on top......but then Alvarez too looked an animal against RDA.......I think he's his toughest proposition without doubt if you cut out the quite unrealistic prospect of 170

He made the mistake of trying to stand and trade with Conor and that was never going to end well for him. He admitted as much in his interviews after.

Any takedowns he tired Conor stuffed. His takedown defence is very good. Only Mendes has been able to take him down at will really.

I think he worked on his takedown defence after that fight. He was too easily taken down and it showed a weakness in his game.

Absolutely, he stood and exchanged because Conor forced him to. I know his response after the fight was that he didn't know why he stuck to game plan, but that's why, because Conor forced him to stand - how many TD's did he defend?

He's looked worse after fights he won against Chandler or Melendez, tbf.

Three according to the UFC stats on the fight. No doubt that McGregor's defence played a big part in Eddie trading.

Drawing a blank here, did Conor and Eddie shake hands afterwards? or was there still bad blood?

Conor went over to him afterwards and had a few words for Eddie. There was no animosity.

Yoel romero is a scary man. That knee to the head is still giving me nightmares.

Gotta love bisping sticking up the finger but i fear for him against romero

My (slightly) drunken thoughts on last nights shenanigans.

To be honest, I don't even listen to most of the things Conor says. He does that to promote fights and to get under peoples skin, and does a damn good job at that. I completely understand that side of it, and I'm fine with it (though I do cringe on occasions).

But as a fighter you cannot doubt his skill. He made Eddie look like decidedly ordinary. I don't care how Eddie fought, that was a masterclass in striking and distance management. At the end of the day he talks a lot of ****, but he then steps into the cage and does the business. He was in no way disrespectful of Eddie too, he praised his toughness in the post fight press conference and in various interviews. He did say in this post fight interview that Eddie shouldn't have been in there with him, and as bad as that sounds it was somewhat true.

Long story short, I have massive respect for him as a fighter. Anything else I couldn't care less. It's what you do it the octagon that counts, well as far as I'm concerned anyway.

And Woodley is awesome. I honestly don't get the hate that he receives, it baffles me. ****ing nice dude! However, as much as I like him he is very very beatable. My question is can any of the CURRENT welterweights beat him. Maia, I'm not sure. I would absolutely love to see that fight though. I would also like to see a rematch with Wonderboy. I actually think his tactics against Wonderboy here quite poor, even though he did enough. Gave him too much space. Although in saying that, Thompson is a bit of an enigma, nobody else fights like him. So he's not the easiest opponent to plan for/adjust too.

JJ is a beast and will probably dominate for a long time. But she lacks power. But that's just her style though, volume over power. KK, despite being dominated (mostly, 1 incident aside) came out unscathed.

The Chris was slightly unlucky (I know I know, it's MMA and anything can happen), and Yoel is beast. I think both statements are somewhat correct. Long way back for Chris now though. There's no alternate universe where I see Bisping beating Romero. Then again I thought the same thing about him v Rockhold (2), so what do I know.

Frankie needs to move to 135. I was slightly unimpressed with that victory.

    Miesha, I love you <3

Khabib has that in his locker and it makes him a genuine danger to anyone he enters the octagon with. But Conor is still a favourite in that fight. Detractors have always maintained that experts on the ground would be Conor's Achilles heel.

Conor's takedown defence (his reach alone is defence in itself) hasn't seen him get in that sort of trouble though. Obviously he was tapped by Nate in that first fight but it was the punch that did the damage there.

I've every reason to believe Conor could keep that fight standing up and pick Khabib off with his power and precision.

They touched gloves when McCarthy brought them together too, which i haven't seen McGregor do in a while.

Gotta say there was only one winner of the fight even before it started. Alverez couldnt wait to get into the ring and get it over with. Couldnt look at McGregor. Couldnt do anything. He was the very same as Aldo was before the fight.

I dont think that there would be any serious animosity between most fighters the talk before the fight seems to be just getting an edge, and when it is all over, its all ok again, bar perhaps Jose Aldo.

I think that McGregor deserves a break. I hope when he does come back his next fight is against Kahbib, as it is difficult to see how he can side step him after the way he called him out...Plus, McGregor is in his absolute prime now. Kahbib almost got floored by Johnson.

Alvarez reached out after McCarthy said if they want to, McGregor delayed for half a second before touching. I'd say he was contemplating leaving him hanging.

I thought Eddie was cutting down from 180 pounds?

Conor looked as if he absolutely dwarfed Alvarez physically.

Aside from the McGregor show, what a great card. Plenty of drama, so many great moments.

Loved the Romero fight, but the highlight was his translator and crew. Like a bunch of Cubans gangsters from a movie! So much passion. Brilliant!
