Ok, so I may just be as stoopid as was claimed earlier upthread, but I haven't managed to decipher what message he was going for with that theme tune? Can it REALLY be simply about sticking the two fingers to his opponents and arrogant gloating, or is it possibly more nuanced than that?

Don't think he does nuance, seen his buildings? His bedroom is gold.

Looks like he wants something like the eight amendment

"Protect innocent human life from conception to natural death, including the most defenseless and those Americans with disabilities."

Legally the President can't declare war, only congress can do that.

Of course that didn't stop Regan when he ordered the invasion of Grenada before telling congress.

I think this whole Trump thing is a fraud. He did it for publicity for his businesses and never expected to win. I guarantee you he will step down after a year or two saying he wants to go back to running his businesses. I think he knows he cannot do that job and Mike pence and co. will be running the show

Trump is worth 3.7 billion already. He is going to take a big loss by becoming president. His business career is effectively over

The US is a federal state. Places like California will go ignoring whatever Washington wants.

Doesn't quite work like that - certain things are handled at federal level other things at state level. It's not like the EU where law is transposed into national law via the state legislatures.

People are complaining about nepotism when Hillary Clinton was the other candidate and others are suggesting Michelle Obama for 2020?

Expect trump companies and investments to do well.

That's no surprise at all, the dogs on the street knew that Donald Trump was running to benefit Donald Trump before and in spite of everyone and everything else. It'll just take a year or so for the Trumpeteers to run out of "this isn't happening" excuses to tell themselves. I've got a feeling we'll see the genuineness beaters jump **** long before that though.

They've been conned by a lifelong con artist, and they can't say they weren't warned time and again.

You mean Clinton who actually -ran- for president and people hoping that Michelle Obama would -run- for president.

You honestly aren't seeing the difference between people putting themselves forward to be judged by the public for fitness for public office and making your children cabinet ministers then, no?

He did invade another country, no doubt but he knew how to get things done politically, particularly the people who wanted the Constitution left alone.

It's not entirely accurate to say Lincoln invaded another country, when the Confederacy fired first.

He hasn't made the cabinet members yet

    1. Its he transition team
    2. Whoever he wants as his cabinet will have to be approved by the senate

expect it to be different and possible a democrat or 2 so it appears non partisan

I can't think of a democratic politician that supported him. I guess there would be civil servants who are democrats.

Honestly I think he could tank the economy and lose thousands of jobs while pocketing money for himself and still get the same number of votes in4 years time. Democrats need to get their vote out in swing states more effectively next time with a candidate who can do that or Donald needs to do something obvious enough to get him impeached. Aside from that the excuses will still be made for him.

Honestly I doubt he'll even last 4 years after all the crap that got him in. He's a throughbred arsehole through and through and not someone who's likely to last when push comes to shove.

To be honest I would seriously be surprised if someone doesn't assassinate him. He's gone out of his way to alienate as many people as possible and really open some really nasty wounds that make people do crazy stuff expecially if he starts going off on crazy ideas like his campaign might suggest.

Assassination is a threat for any US president though.

    Laughable really.

Here's one. An Anti-Bullying Activist assaulting a 74 year old man who was a Trump supporter.

Only because they were in a fort which doesn't belong to the US.

Trump already talking about keeping parts of Obamacare. I think out of respect to Obama he should and get rid of the bits which don't work. Don't destroy all of his legacy, Obama is a good guy.

Aren't you the one who said the polls were solid, there were no shy voters and that Trump would lose?

You're in no position to be making predictions about the future.

Well No they did not. Did any republicans support Obama as he had Republicans in his cabinet 2 were secretaries of defence. I think Bush had 1 Democrat in his cabinet.

I'm seeing the media reporting this as a massive U-Turn. All he said was he would take a "look at" some of Obama's suggestions "out of respect" and then either amend, repeal or replace Obamacare.

    The polls were solid(ish) :)

The problem with polls is that the take a small snapshot of what's happening at this point in time. What's most important is the trend. In the last week, post Comey revelations, there was a significant swing to Trump. Before Comey I felt fine saying Clinton would win but as it got closer and there was an obvious trend towards Trump I felt less certain. I knew a few of the swing states would swing to Trump but I had no idea how many.

I will say the big shock for me was Wisconsin. That's the one state I didn't think would swing. Clinton had a huge margin.

America's best known Conspiracy Theorist (Jesse Ventura) said after the announcement of Pence as Trump's running mate that if Trump were to win, the Republicans themselves would assassinate him and that's why many of them started supporting him all of a sudden (although many left again after this when the Access Hollywood tape emerged). His theory being that they'd love a President Pence and it would be easy to blame it on a Mexican or Muslim patsy similar to Sirhan Sirhan in the RFK assassination.

You gotta hand it to him for coming out with the theory before the event :D

Everything up till now including his website says repeal. He's not banning Muslims from entering the US either. Or jailing Hillary Clinton.

    Flip flopping already.

They don't have to kill him. He has zero experience of any political office and has no understanding of even the basic mechanics of the political system. He's completely dependent on his advisors. I see he's appointed his kids to the transition team, but they won't last either. The likes of seasoned players such as Giuliani will pander to his ego, but they'll have the real power. Trump looked utterly lost and out of his depth in DC.
