You forget that Trump and Pence are more likely to try and turn the US into one of those countries than Clinton was.

I don't think so. I think you're underestimating the amount of people willing to march on him if he does try - Hillary's supporters for one, and a more-significant-than-you'll-admit portion of Trump's supporters too.

The poor/working class voted with Clinton.

People were given 4 choices in the exit poll for 'most important issue facing the country'. Foreign policy, Immigration, Economy and Terrorism. Immigration was the least important issue to people across the 50 states of those 4 options.

It's all there if you're arsed to look it up.

What's the matter friend? Salty that Trump is going to round up and start deporting criminals? Not like the tolerant Europeans who allow foreign rape gangs to stay in the country? ;)

You are uneducated because you cant think for yourself and instead listen to the media that says Clinton is/was certain to win?
I am uneducated because I didn't conduct my own polling? Good one.
Lib Dem = Good, Republican = Bad. I'm glad the American public could see past that.
Hmm, Trump is probably more of a liberal democrat than Hillary Clinton is, and Hillary Clinton is more of a liberal democrat than Bernie Sanders is, and Bernie Sanders is more of a liberal democrat than I am.

Do you know what a liberal democrat is?

Not yet anyway, he's still got a court case to attend in which he's accused of raping a 13 year old. Often found it odd that this wasn't blown up with everything else, given how badly they wanted him to fail. Mabye they're saving it in case he won. Waiting over a decade to release "locker room talk" as undeniably rude and offensive as it was, was a definitely desperate move, indicative of the times, indicative of future moves...

Was that the one that was dropped, the one that was fabricated by a weirdo with a penchant for convoluted conspiracies about famous men, or a different one? Pardon me for not falling over myself to believe much of this just yet. Several times I've seen a poster make an accusation, only for a different poster to point out that all is not as it seems. Along with the pages and pages of videos and the dissection of them, in which nobody seems to see the same thing or agree on what they see.

The comment discussed by Niamh Horan is the only one that anyone I've spoken to can cling to when everything else falls away, and on that I agree with Niamh.

You do know that the other man that she names in that rape case is a convicted paedophile, Jeffrey Epstein.

A man Donald has described as 'being a lot of fun to be with, and one who likes young women'

There are ten million extra jobs in the US economy and the unemployment rate has dropped 5%.

    Go fish.

Why do uneducated white people hate Obama?

Answers on a very small postage stamp...

Our unemployment rate has dropped over 7% and there have been proportionally far more jobs created here the in the USA. Yet the hate that's around in working class/uneducated areas in Ireland for Enda is extraordinary.

It's not about left or right politics in the western world anymore. It's about change and anti-establishment.

He was discussed on another thread or earlier in this one. That went around and around with no conclusion, too. I'm not going to drag the thread backwards.

His opinions on women are disturbing. But they are not "my sole thing". He has not demonstrated a stable personality, nor did I ever find him able to articulate his agenda in any significant depth. Of course he's not the only president to have these failings, other presidents and world leaders have had them also. But I still can't get past the basic lack of coherence.

I'm wishing America the best of luck, and I hope beyond hope that his presidency will allay my concerns.

I think they might. His opinions on women were never important to me - he'll have too much opposition to do anything with them, so they're safe.
Neither are the worries of gay or trans people - nobody in Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, Algeria, Brunei, Kuwait or other countries are worried about which bog they're allowed to piss into.
All these countries have donated millions to the Clinton Foundation, which gladly took it.
But all they care about are themselves right at home, I honestly don't rate "nasty words" on the same level as state sanctioned execution.
That might make me sound insensitive, but seeing the rest of the world for what it is, puts things into perspective.

People have it far, far worse in other countries, and those countries want Hillary.

Why don't you send me a PM and we'll discuss it. From any of your numerous accounts. I doubt people want to wade through your sh*t again.

I spent yesterday trying to keep an open mind about Trump. I had a few discussions about it, thought about it.

And I just cannot get past the fact that a deeply unstable, egotistical individual, with no respect for women and a gnat-sized attention span won the election.
This election was not about politics, it became a popularity contest. Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face.
Because the opposition but forward and even more unpopular candidate.
All the Democrats had to do was put forward Bernie Sanders and they'd probably would have won.
But no they wanted to make history and elect the first woman president.
So they picked a woman with a whole ton of baggage that was hated by a huge chuck of the electorate.
All this coming off the back of 8 years of an Obama administration that seemed to be very unpopular with Republicans.

They should have learnt from Brexit that you ignore the electorate at your peril.

I'm unsure myself, particularly given the publicists attempts to sell the story for million to media, which kind of blows out the 'we cant risk biasing the trial' reasoning for not openly and oftenly reporting it.

But I know if it's real, it's also going bring a lot of people like Epstein and his detestable ilk with him if it does go through. Much as I like him, I'd see Trump impeached - even if that case alone was fabricated - if it took down loadss of elite and their actual human trafficking/paedophile circles..

There is an obligation to help the less well off both in the west and the wider world - an obligation based simply on being human. But big government and high taxes are not the way to fulfill that obligation. People know this now and are voting in elections accordingly.

I don't buy that , this kind of thinking is why we have massive overpopulation at this stage.

The close friendship between Donald Trump and a man that ran an underage sex ring, that nobody wants to talk about.

What kind of world are we living in?

Trump: 'I've known Jeff for fifteen years, terrific guy, he likes beautiful women as much as i do, and a lot of them are on the younger side.'.

Jeffrey Epstein ran a sex ring where he trafficed underage girls to his friends.

Republicans have been making laws against LGBT people for quite a while and have a hell of a lot of backing. There will be plenty of opposition against them from both pro and anti Trump people, but that isn't necessarily going to stop them. And even if Trump/Pence don't get to pass any of those laws, the fact that they've said they'd try is disconcerting.

I'd like to think Trump was playing up to various lobby groups for the election and will take a more sensible approach to certain issues. But Pence is a true-believer. If anything, we're lucky to have Trump acting as a buffer against him.

What do you think of Trump describing him as 'a lot of fun to be with' and describing a paedophile as 'liking younger women'.

    Trump is the ultimate scumbag.

I'm ashamed that our world is this dark that we elect a man like this.

To me, that's when he started gaining the momentum that would take him to the white house. Announcing that if he got in and Ford went ahead with plans to move smalk car production to Mexico, he'd slap import tarrifs on them that no one will want to buy.

Granted, the small car sector is slipping in America and ford wanted to replace S/C production with SUV production, claiming they wouldn't shave jobs in the process, except for one thing.....
Oil is going to go back up, people will stop buying 5 litre Jeeps, then what?

'Oh, well we've already moved small car production so.... Sorry!

A lot of people saw that, and it was music to their ears when Trump addressed it.

When Ivanka was a young teenager, Trump posed her in a series of disturbing professional photographs: all looking at him adoringly.

They say that this is a classic sign of narcissistic disorder.
