Poor Cher, she was a great shill for Clinton tonight. When she seen Trump was winning she ran out of the room as fast as her legs could carry her.

People calling Trump supporters racist, you are out of reality and brainwashed by the mainstream media. He's said some stupid things, but he has a connection with people, something that someone like Clinton and her fakeness can never have. She is merely a puppet using the media preying on the minority groups and trying to get Woman to vote for her because Trump is 'a sexual predator'. 50% of Woman voted for Trump tonight.

On reddit's Trump site, Blacks, Mexicans, Hispanics have been taking selfies all day with Trump vote cards and posting them there calling themselves deplorables. It was never about race, it was about the average working class taking a stand against the elite and showing them talking down to them only makes them stronger. Trump supporters aren't racist, they are real. Not one single racist comment has been said on that forum since it opened.

Trump had everything against him, the establishment, the bankers, the media, his own party to an extent. And he still won in a landslide. Most people don't read Wikileaks, or perhaps even know what it is. For those who don't, the mainstream have been working in cahoots with the DNC, planting racist stories for CNN and NBC to publish, to publish made up stories linking Trump with Russia, to make him look like a racist, to pretend only redneck write men will ever .vote for Trump. It goes on and on, so I'd suggest anyone calling Trump the next hitler to go and do your research.

America made the right choice and I can see sleep easy after following this all night. Go read wikileaks, do your own research and don't be a puppet for them any longer.

Excellent post, put it better than I ever could.

I loved Donalds speech. It was very real, and appreciative of his family and the closest people around him. Ultimately it was this connection he made with his voters that made the difference, they turned up for him in droves.

Well obviously they were heavily anti-Trump, but I'm not sure if they've turned out the vote (as historically they haven't) so we won't know how many women actually supported him in the elections.
So then the "50% of women voted for Trump" that was stated earlier is a lie. Glad we cleared that up.

People say Trump is sexist yet it is rumoured 43% of women voted for him. Also Clinton is supposed to be the anti sexist one when in fact her whole campaign was about "vote for me because I am a woman". That's the basis of sexism right there and the basis of feminism. If feminism were about gender equality then it would be called that and not "feminism".

Reminds me of Haughey's GUBU remark 'grotesque, unbelievable, bizarre and unprecedented'

That sums it up for me.

Correct me if I am wrong, but, didn't a majority of Californians vote No to gay marriage when they were asked, and that had to be overruled by the Federal Courts? I know it is not relevant here, but, I remember being shocked that the people said no

The Simpsons actually predicted Trump would be president around 20 years ago.

And as Kent Brockman said "I've said it before and I'll say it again, democracy simply doesn't work"

Pretty sure trump said something similar and has the capacity to say much much worse.

Make these next four years the best of your lives folks because you will not know what this fcuk is going to do or cause!

I didn't claim that anyway, but chances are there was negligible turnout by minorities (which I assume is why Trump has been leading in popular vote as well as college votes).

If you don't turn out to vote, it's your own fault.

That Californian Liberals for Secession thing is about as serious as the People's Republic of Cork.

Of course they are. And men are sexist towards other men as well. And that sexism towards women is the main reason why a woman has not been voted as president or even vice president. If you want to delude yourself that sexism doesn't impact the voting statistics then do so, but you're not going to fool a woman who has lived in this country her whole life, and has lived in a conservative state her whole life as well.

suppose I can't really argue about sexism existing among women but at the same time I really don't think this election came down purely to sexism...too many other negative factors counted against clinton and while some people most certainly voted trump because of his gender I think just shouting sexism as the only reason for his victory is a bit of a cop out

Hillary would have read her victory speech of a teleprompter and would have had a dig at Trump's supporters.. Trump just spoke and talked of co-operation with other countries from his heart. (I didn't catch all of it though). I don't like him (I just despise her) but it was good to see.

I wanted to meet an American friend who I knew would take it badly so I could take his mind of it but he wouldn't.. His English girlfriend is crying and he said he had been as well.

They just didn't see it coming. A week ago, we had a big sane discussion on who might win and they couldn't for the life of them see how it was possible. When I heard it was over, I felt happy Hillary didn't succeed but also felt bad for good people whose world has just stopped making sense.

    I am not overly surprised.

One thing that has been nagging at me over the past few weeks is how wrong the media in Europe portray Republican candidates.

I lived in Boston during 1999/2000 and took in most of the buildup to the 2000 elections. As a news and politics junkie I followed the primaries etc closely.

Now, the coverage of George Bush was very different to what we are exposed to in Europe. He was not portrayed as some sort of gun slinging hill billy with nothing between the ears. His time in office was analyzed and discussed in a sensible manner- hell I would nearly have voted for him myself.

By contrast in Europe, the media focused on his privileged upbringing and that he was basically a retarded puppet.

On my return to Europe (Ireland- as we are exposed to liberal/Democratic sympathies), I was surprised how wrong the media was and it simple was not reflective of what I was hearing and experiencing on the ground in the US.

I remember reading the press over here in 2000 thinking: 'This does not accurately reflect the opinions on the ground in the US'. Hell, I remember even telling my father this during the night of the count.

The same has happened with Trump, the European media has solely focused his crazy soundbites to portray him as an unstable lunatic- that is not the Trump the voters see on the ground and the media did not (or chose to ignore) cover why he appealed to voters with nearly same effort as his crazy soundbites.

The narrative is/was with the media is that he is nuts and his supporters are nuts but common sense will prevail- nothing to worry about.

Since then I have taken the anti-Republican slant and the puffing up of the Democratic nominees with a huge pinch of salt. I made these points at work yesterday. I basically said that the support for Trump on the ground is a lot more than what the media is portraying if my experience from 1999/2000 is anything to go by and I suspected it would be very narrow.

Admittedly, I still thought Clinton would scrap through.

It just goes to show how blinkered our own exposure is and how much at the mercy we are of the liberal media with its own agenda.

Now that someone mentioned it , I wonder will any of the people who said the would leave actually follow through , a slow google gave the list below , although Jon Stewart did say leave the planet as did Cher so that's more a passing joke than anything and I think Neve Campbell is Canadian anyway . Most of these people wouldn't sway peoples votes either. I just want to see how quick they will back track.

    Barbra Streisand
    Bryan Cranston
    Miley Cyrus
    Lena Dunham
    Amy Schumer
    Jon Stewart
    Cher
    Chelsea Handler
    Samuel L. Jackson
    Whoopi Goldberg
    Neve Campbell
    Keegan-Michael Key
    George Lopez
    Ne-Yo
    Rev. Al Sharpton
    Raven-Symoné

Can we at least make sure Amy Schumer leaves the planet?
Dont care if the rest of that list break their promise.

I really don't care anymore, the vindication has happened. I stopped reading your post after line 1.

I'm quite frankly sick and tired of the funny looks and accusations Trump sympathisers receive. I always found it to be bogus and phoney, and I no longer have to listen to the various putdowns. The victory is in the books.

The presidential election is not a sports competition, the only vindication is if the Duck's wall stops Mexicans getting in, if crime is abolished, if The Duck 'kills those ISIS guys', brings jobs back to the rust belt, and makes America great again.

Hopefully pussies around the White House will remain ungrabbed while this is going on.

in my view Trump, will be a reasonable president, he not a fool and he has little moral compass ( i dont like moralists )

    Pence is much more dangerous

That would be my read too. Trump may be greedy, vain and selfish but he's nowhere near as genuinely terrible as Mike Pence, his wikipedia article is terrifying :

    - anti choice
    - anti- sex ed
    - anti-gay rights
    - anti raising the minimum wage
    - opposed to the deal that saved the auto industry
    - opposed the act that introduced Wall street regulation
    - opposed to tobacco regulation
    - In favour of partial privatization of social security
    - Supported the Patriot Act
    - Supported NAFTA
    - Voted against the Trade and Globalization Act of 2007, which would have expanded trade adjustment assistance to American workers adversely affected by globalization
    - In favour of the Iraq War
    - Opposes closing Guantanamo
    - Does not believe in climate change
    - Voted to eliminate funding for climate education programs and to prohibit the Environmental Protection Agency from regulating greenhouse gas emissions
    - Repeatedly voted against energy efficiency and renewable energy funding and rules" and voted "for several bills that supported fossil fuel development, including legislation promoting offshore drilling

And finally, he is a creationist, he believes in Intelligent Design

I find it baffling how people suggest a Billionaire with Trumps background can possibly represent the working class? Trump is just as big an elitist as Clinton he will do what's best for big business not for ordinary people, tbf Clinton would have done the exact same.

To be fair you cant really say Trump will do nothing for the working class. His whole campaign has been based on helping that division of American society. At least lets see what he can do first.
