    Just ordered.

Went with 15' 2.6GHz and upgraded the GPU (460). If anything it will increase the resale value and the discounnt I got meant I really got a free GPU upgrade.

Got student discount so it cost me €2,730 with the upgraded GPU.

Do deliverys normally take the lenght of time they are quoting (14th-20/12) or could I have it before then?

Can't wait to try out my first Macbook Pro :D

Now I have to start looking for adaptors!! :D:D

You'll love it, amazing machines and when they're a brand spanking new design it's even that little bit better.

Delivery is usually an over estimate. You could get it days earlier.

Instead of adapters a all one one hub might be a good idea. That way you can plug them all into one USB slot.

Definitely buy a hub. I went for a HooToo shuttle hub. 3 USB 3.0 ports, SD card slot, USB-C port and usb-c connector cable to go to the mac. Got it on Amazon for £24.

I went with 15-inch MacBook Pro - Space Grey, 2.9GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7, 16GB 2133MHz LPDDR3 SDRAM, Radeon Pro 460 with 4GB VRAM, 1TB PCIe-based SSD, Four Thunderbolt 3 ports, Touch Bar and Touch ID, Force Touch trackpad.

With discounts and exchange rate, should come in around €2,750. Delivery due on 2nd Dec. I just have to go to Belfast to collect.

I came across that one earlier on Amazon while just browsing, looks good alright and they colour match the MacBook.

Anker also do a USB-C hub, which are a great accessory company. Usually if im buying stuff like that from Amazon I'll look up Anker first to see if they have a version.

17 doesn't seem like that many to me, especially considering several of them are 30-pin adapters for old iPhones.

There's definitely a good argument that Apple should have included at least one USB-A port, but overall this business about ports and dongles is overblown. Same moaning accompanied the move to Lightning. People just need to get on with it.

Listening to Marco Arment on ATP it's evident that lot of the "pro" crowd buy new a Mac every year or two. They simply aren't reflective of most Mac users who probably get 4-6 years out of their machine and will ultimately be grateful for those 4 USB-C ports.

I have the HooToo myself actually. Ever get that disconnecting/re-connecting issue with it? Other than that it's great. All the ports I need on the go.

I haven't got one, I've just ordered one for my first Mac pro I purchased last night. Can't wait for it.

When looking for a monitor, what would be the best connects to have on it to work flawlessly with New Macbook Pro?

There's a ultra Wide hd on Amazon at the moment which looks have decent.

Ah the points being made are valid enough, wouldn't dismiss it as moaning myself. Just stating facts really, no need to get so defensive about it :)

The hub's I linked before will be all I need for the Mac. Can't remember the last time I connect laptop to Ethernet, used HDMi to connect laptop to PC. So these hubs are all I need.

Have the Nexus 6P so I can use my current USB-C cable.

In another 12-18 months well be glad we got the new Macbook with USB-C as this will be the standard.

Sorry, Albert, if you thought I was directing that at you, I wasn't.

It's not defensiveness. I've witnessed a dozen similar moaning sessions from Mac and Apple users over the years. I agree with them about Apple's recent neglect of the Mac, and I think that's the real issue here, not this "oh no I have to buy a few 20 bucks each dongles for my 3k notebook" nonsense.

I'm also not getting the huge deal being made of usb-c, it looks like a good technology to me. I've ordered a 13" pro and had to order three new cables for the devices I'm planning on using with it, and one as small as possible adapter to use one of the ports for old usb devices if I need to. Grand total €30.

This isn't some proprietary apple standard they'll charge through the nose for cables/adapters. It's soon to be standard and you'll be able buy cables from anyone for next to nothing. The only thing I'm missing is usb-c to hdmi, and those cables are supposedly being released soon.

Just meant you not agreeing with someone does not equate it to them moaning. That was all.

Also apologies if it is just me but your posts often seem to be defending Apple a lot, apologies for my misinterpretation. :)

USB-C is a great connector and the thunderbolt technology is brilliant. Standard connections are great by me. Not sure many people have an issue with USB-C as such.

I've no issue with USB C, but the lack of an sd card reader is irritating. Those USB card readers are fairly terrible. It's just going to be an awkward adjustment period.

For an external monitor it would be ideal to get one which supports USB-C and power pass-through. That way you can have one cable connected to the MacBook Pro that would charge your mac and send video to the monitor.

A lot of these would have ports on the back too so that means you could hook up USB sticks or keyboards etc.

Most likely they'll be a little pricey compared to standard hdmi monitors.

Hey mate, how did you go about getting the student discount. When I looked into the Apple Store under education it only gave me access to a few items....none of which had the specs I wanted.

You need to be a student and sign up to unidays. On the first page you will see apple store 10% discount. Click here and all the prices on the page include the discount.

Student that signs up on the site needs to verify student ID.

I got my brother in laws login and did it that way. SAved my self nearly €300

Is that a typo? Even with education discount that config comes in at €3725 for me? Or Is it possible to use Irish eduction discount on the UK store?

I bought a Thunderbolt to FireWire adapter with my new MacBook Pro last week, and I picked up my Male To Male FireWire cables at Elara this morning.

Hasselblad camera running like a train now.

Had a go of the new MacBook Pro today.. I'm currently using the MacBook 12 myself, the keyboard on the pro has loads more travel, to be honest I love the keyboard on mine, but reckon people coming from old pro will be happy with the travel, and that massive trackpad is delicious.

As always a solid laptop from Apple. I still prefer the 12inch,maybe bias a little!

I'm personally hoping all the "pro" users keep the cost of my feeble Macbook down (I don't use it for professional use at all I swear!)
